Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul is due to travel to Belgrade today to attend a meeting of Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC) and meet with Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis. During their meeting, Gul and Bakoyannis will discuss a number of issues, including Turkey’s European Union membership bid, Cyprus issue, and regional issues. Serbia hosts 16th meeting of BSEC Foreign Ministers Council. Gul had to cancel his visits to Athens twice, in December and in late March, due to a political chill between the two countries. /Sabah/

Turkey's military chief Gen. Yasar Buyukanit on Thursday said the armed forces of Greece and Turkey were working to overcome traditional rivalry.

"It's our duty is to create a climate of trust. Within that climate, politicians can resolve the problems," Buyukanit said at the end of a two-day visit.

"Where there's a will, there's a way. And I think that will exists," he said. "It's clear that there is no hostility between the Greek and Turkish people ... It depends on how you look at the glass. I see it as half-full."

Buyukanit, in this northern Greek city for a security conference, startled his hosts Wednesday, when he flatly denied Athens' allegations of frequent air space violations over the Aegean Sea.

The dispute has led to frequent mock dog fights between Greek and Turkish air force jets.

On Thursday, Buyukanit visited the ancestral home in Thessaloniki of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey.

AGENDA
-----------

Speaking to reporters yesterday before flying to Belgrade to attend the 16th foreign ministers meeting of Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSCE), Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul commented on a possible military operation against northern Iraq referring to the news of Washington Post, saying that careful statements were made on the issue before. Everyone knows Turkey s determination on the issue, said Gul. Stressing that Turkey would takeover BSCE term presidency from Serbia by May 1, Gul added that a summit would be held in Istanbul to mark the 15th foundation anniversary of the organization. Also commenting on presidential election, Gul said that the final decision on the issue would be given by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and that the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) would side by his decision. “The process is continuing transparently, added Gul. /Milliyet-Sabah/
[does Timuçin knows when this BSCE summit is to be held in Turkey?]

From NTVMSNBC

Turkish PM holds talks with Putin
Erdogan invited the Russian President to attend the BSCE Summit, to be held in Istanbul in June.

"ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone late Tuesday, inviting him to attend the 15th summit of the Black Sea Economic Co-operation Organization (BSEC) to be held on June 25 in Istanbul.

According to Turkish sources, Putin reaffirmed Russia’s support for the activities of the BSEC, founded in 1992, in creating co-operation among Black Sea littoral countries.

The Tass news agency reported that the conversation also covered issues of bilateral co-operation, including those in the energy sector, as well as bilateral interaction in regional multi-focus organisations."

Funeral oration upon Yeltsin the drunkard
************************************
by Jaap de Hoop Scheffer

---------------------------------I was saddened to learn of the death of Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin, First President of the Russian Federation. President Yeltsin will be remembered for his courage in charting a new, democratic course for his country. He was also at the forefront of the effort to overcome the legacy of the Cold War by forging a new relationship between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance. This historic effort to set aside the fears and stereotypes of the past in favour of cooperation in facing the challenges of the future, enshrined in the NATO-Russia Founding Act that bears President Yeltsin’s signature, continues to this day.

On behalf of the North Atlantic Alliance, my deepest condolences go to President Yeltsin’s family, and to the Russian people.
************************************************

He was the one who permitted the robber barons to pick every good that russian even possessed and when he launched his panzers AGAINST THE RUSSIAN PARLIAMENT ( a real democrat !) the soldiers gave up obliging the OFFICERS TO GO ON WITH THE SIEGE.

The devil have his soul !

Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul was seeking support in his bid for Turkey's presidency, after the main opposition group said it would boycott the parliamentary vote on his candidacy.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Turkey's prime minister announced Tuesday that Gul would be the governing party's candidate for president. But the prospect of electing a leading member of Turkey's Islamic-rooted government to the presidential palace a symbol of secularism has upset the country's secular establishment, backed by the military.

The division in Parliament reflects deep-seated mistrust of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Justice and Development Party, which has been accused of raising the profile of Islam in this predominantly Muslim country with a secular government.

Gul must satisfy a diverse and often-divided audience: the country's Islamic-oriented hinterland, its secular business and military elite, and negotiators from the European Union who want Turkey to become a modern nation before any entry into their club.

Erdogan declared Gul's candidacy on Tuesday to the cheers of party members, whose support in a voting process that begins Friday is expected to secure him the presidency. In Turkey, the president has the power to veto legislation.

The selection follows months of political tension over whether Erdogan himself would run for the job, a prospect that infuriated secularists who believed he might use his Islamic credentials to dilute the nation's secularist traditions.

The seven-year term of the current president, Ahmet Necdet Sezer, ends May 16. By remaining prime minister, Erdogan will be able to steer government initiatives, promote economic stability and bolster his party's votes in general elections in November.

Gul and Erdogan have rejected the label of Islamist, citing their promotion of sweeping reforms as a means of advancing Turkey's EU bid.

"The president must be loyal to the main principles of the Republic as stated in the constitution. He must be loyal to secular principles," Gul said. "If the Parliament elects me president, no one should doubt I will certainly act within these principles and rules of the constitution."

In seeking support for his candidacy, Gul met leaders of opposition parties and independent lawmakers on Tuesday and Wednesday.

"For the first time a candidate for president is visiting lawmakers one by one," Gul said. "The decision belongs to lawmakers. I respect their decision

WELL, WELL, WELL WHERE ARE WE GOING TO?
****************************************

Greece believes that an anti-missile defence shield proposed by Washington should cover all of Europe and all NATO countries, Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis stressed on Friday after an informal meeting of NATO foreign minister held in Oslo.
She said the issue had been "extensively discussed" at the meeting, with the controversy fuelled even further by a recent "state of the nation" speech made by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and that the climate "had not been that pleasant".

Bakoyannis additionally underlined the need for extensive dialogue with Russia in order to allay its concerns that the proposed deployment will upset geostrategic balances and was not strictly a defence measure, but one which could target Russia.

NATO foreign ministers had concluded that dialogue on the proposal advanced by Washington must continue on both a technical and political level and that the right forum for these talks was the NATO-Russia Council, she added.

Regarding relations between Russia and NATO, the Greek minister said there were still unresolved problems.

"Our view is that they should be openly discussed in order to build relations of trust," she said

GUESS WHO IS GIVING US LESSONS OF DEMOCRACY ?
************************************************
They just want to say they will meet in Istanbul. But they do not like us to be there so they did not give the name of Hotel. For more than two months they are hacking the site of Timuçin (the Turkish forum here under). So they do not precisely want to let know the turkish people that they are gathering for other reasons that the one they announce: private syposium to speak about economy. Guess what? they speak of economics but in another sense: how to lead the western world and the eastern world where they want to drive it.

If we were nutshells and 'nothing in the street' why should they be frightened by us? I just tell it to you: because we denounce their power and evil doings, their dirty job with their neo liberalism and lobbyist attitude, their constant plot to lead us where we don t want to go.

The way they are acting UNDER YOUR EYES with the Turkish forum is the best EVIDENCE that these bunch of money-mooners is practizing the EVIL.

Just to show you what they are in practical.
