Continental currency all the rage

On Monday, Bank of Canada Gov. David Dodge told the Chica go Council on Global Affairs that North America could one day move toward a euro-style currency.

Dodge's comments add to a growing list of comments from Canadian economists, academics and government officials supporting the idea of creating the amero as a North American common currency.

Dodge argued a common North American currency would help buffer the adverse effects of exchange rate fluctuations between the Canadian dollar and the U.S. dollar. - - -

In October 2006, El Universal, a Mexican newspaper published in Spanish, reported in a little-noticed article the then- president-elect of Mexico and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper in their first meeting together shared a vision of a future North America united under a common currency.

El Universal reported Gilles Duceppe, the leader of the separatist party Bloc Québécois commented at the October 2006 Calderon- Harper meeting in Ottawa that a unified North American currency might be necessary to compete in a global economy.

The Canadian, a progressive Canadian newspaper that supports preserving Canadian sovereignty, expressed surprise at Duceppe's support of what the paper characterized as "the amero." - - -

That would be the soft way to declare bankruptcy. Instead of declaring the USD worthless, just replace it with something new. Thus, you gain time..

The same happened in Europe with the EUR: A lot of the smaller currencies like the Italian Lira, Greek Drachme, Spanish Peseta and even the Deutsche Mark were on the brink to collapse. So, they decided to replace and unify all those VERY DIVERSE countries under one umbrella currency the EUR.

It first looked great, then it surfaced that every country was lying about their level of debts, etc.
And on top the EUR brought an inflation of 150% in only 5 years! That is not the official number, but ask the population over there, and you will get this answer.

Italy, Germany, even France have strong circles thinking of leaving the EURO because of all the bad side effects.

In the long run only a fully gold covered currency will really preserve the value of our assets. There are good models out there already, like goldmoney.com, supragold.com and pecunix.com
