As the library sector continues to grow and evolve the need for amenable product standards in the market has become increasingly important. Although UK standards for data storage and tag air interface (how the reader talks to the tag (ISO18000-3 and ISO15693) are developing, library suppliers have, until recently, found it difficult to pre-tag stock given the wide range of data format in use.
All UK libraries use RFID systems that operate at High Frequency (HF, 13.56MHz). These tags operate at extremely low power levels and are completely safe. The actual means by which the tags communicate to the readers systems (in handhelds, stations and self service desks) is controlled by the international standard ISO15693. By storing the unique barcode reference number on the tag, together with optional library information to the general read memory, all Intellident's solutions conform to this standard. In addition, Intellident do not place any encryption or password protection on the tag data, which makes our solution interoperable with any other standards-compliant solution in the market.
In light of growing tag standard legislation Intellident has also developed the supplier solution programme in conjunction with the UK's leading library suppliers. We are also currently represented on the UK and International standards bodies and are also members of both GS1 and EPC global. Our obvious dedication represents Intellident's consistent commitment to providing RFID systems and compliant interoperability in conformance with open standards.
Intellident's self-service terminals are designed to automatically re-format data on tags if required to accommodate future data standards. As a result, Intellident can guarantee the future-proof of systems, and can certify that we will support any forthcoming standards adopted by UK libraries.
