Conveniently for Lord Mandelson, the threshold for declaring hospitality and gifts in the House of Lords is double that in the Commons - £1000 as opposed to £500!
On Thurs May 14th 2009 Mandleson`s flight to Greece and overnight accomodation was paid for by the taxpayer because, by sheer coincidence, he had a meeting with his Greek counterpart on the eve of the Bilderberg event.(Independent 26 July 2009)
He then stayed 2 nights with Bilderberg, who paid for this accomodation, flying back on the Sunday.
While George Osborne was obliged to record his Bilderberg Hospitality in the MP`S register of interests, Mandy had no need to because his trip`s cost fell below the £1000 threshold!
( The Indie reports that Mandleson`s bilderberg trip was declared to the permanent secretary and recorded in the departmental hospitality register) |
