Local school officials in a suburb of Houston, Texas, are investigating how it was possible that a school police officer handed out calendars to students that featured explicit details on satanic and sexual rituals for every day of the month.

Parents in Pearland are demanding answers, according to a news report on KHOU-TV.

The school police officer who handed out the calendars was supposed to deliver a positive anti-gang message to the students last Monday, according to the report.

"September 20th is a 'midnight host' whatever that is," said one unidentified parent reading from the calendar. "You should have a blood-type ritual. September 23rd is the fall equinox – you should have an orgy. Activity group sex, any age, any sex."


The father did not want to be identified because he feared his daughter would be punished.

"They shouldn't be teaching the kids, at 12 years of age, a calendar of satanism. It's just not right," he said.

Pearland school officials say some 25 students at the junior high received the calendars.

"It clearly was a mistake," said Renea Ivy, Pearland ISD spokesperson. "We don't want it to happen again and so – it was not done with malice, it was not done to promote satanism in any way on the campus. It was just a mistake."

The officer said he got the packets from a anti-gang training course he took. Officials say he neglected to take out the adult material. The police officer remains on duty pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

But one thing Norman Blain isn't is chatty. "I have no comment for the press," Blain said yesterday from his Brampton residence, where he's been on home assignment from his Peel District School Board job since getting bail Jan. 11. "He continues to be paid pending the outcome of the investigation," board spokesman Brian Woodland said of the long-time school social worker.
"We've been told by the Peel Regional Police that the charges are in no way connected to his work."
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada confirmed he was a volunteer in southwestern Ontario in the 1980s and a board member in Peel in 1993, without incident or complaint, president Bruce MacDonald said. "We've taken a look at the case files and there's nothing untoward," MacDonald said. It's frustrating for the group to be dragged into such an investigation when there's no suggestion the charge is related to those years, he said. "We believe we're doing everything reasonably possible to protect children," MacDonald said. Blain, 45, was arrested Jan. 4 and charged with possessing child ***********.

Former Boy Scouts leader Charles H. Seamans sat in a corner of Throop Town Court on Thursday, wearing an orange jump suit, his hands in cuffs attached to a chain at his waist, legs in shackles. "Sorry I can't give you a better handshake," he said, greeting a reporter. He was alone and, as he admitted later to the judge presiding at his preliminary hearing, scared. Cayuga County sheriff's investigators have charged Seamans, 46, with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse. If convicted of first-degree abuse, Seamans faces as much as seven years in state prison. Seneca County investigators have charged him with first-degree criminal sexual act, a crime which carries a possible sentence of 25 years in prison. He was arrested Jan. 12 and is being held on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.

Seamans is accused of sexually abusing two members of his Scout troop over an 18-month period at his home in Brutus. He is also accused of abusing one of the Scouts during a weeklong campout at a Scout camp in Ovid. The boys are ages 10 and 11.
He had been a Scout leader for nine years and resigned his post as assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 43 in Auburn on Jan. 9, the day before Cayuga County investigators received a complaint from the parents of one of the Scouts.

Seamans was born in Auburn, the son of Calvin and Arlene Seamans, and graduated in 1980 from Auburn High School. He is single and has lived in the area all his life, but he remains something of a mystery. His neighbors in the mobile home park in Brutus know little about him, even though he lived there about five years.

A co-worker at Autech Plastics in Auburn, where Seamans worked the 11 p.m.-to-7 a.m. shift, described him as a good worker who rarely missed time. Seamans' older brother, James, said the family, which included a younger sister, Joann, and a cousin, Brian S. Bell Sr., lived on Seminary Street in Auburn until Calvin Seamans retired in 1990 after 31 years at New Process Gear.

Joann was murdered in August 2002, stabbed to death by her companion at their home in Elmira. The companion, Richard J. Hess, committed suicide. James Seamans, who still lives in Auburn, said he has little contact with his younger brother a case of sibling disagreement, he said. James would not talk about his brother.

Calvin, Arlene and Charles moved to Canoga Road in Throop after Calvin retired. The family had bought 12 acres of land and installed a "doublewide" manufactured home. Relations with their Canoga Road neighbors were not always pleasant.

Neighbor Leo Majorsaid he opposed the family's plan to move a second mobile home onto the property. Later, the Seamans family claimed that Major's dogs killed some of Charles' chickens. "I gave him $50 for the feed and whatever," Major said. "He was happy."

Calvin Seamans died in 1996. Arlene, who sold the Canoga Road home about seven years later, now lives in Auburn. She declined to be interviewed. Charles bought his trailer home in Brutus and has remained close to his mother. He told Throop Town Justice Mark Kubarek during his hearing Thursday that he frequently spends time with his 80-year-old mother watching television.
"I visit her two or three times a week ... to provide her with companionship," he said in asking for his bail to be lowered to $5,000 cash. "She's as scared as I am right now. I don't want her to be alone."

Arlene Seamans was at Charles' trailer home in Brutus on Wednesday, cleaning up and looking after Charles' dog, a pug named Matilda. Friends are now taking care of the dog. Gordon Herrick,who lives two homes up from Seamans, remembered that Charles Seamans always had a lot of young boys with him, and that he would fix bikes for children in the area. Edith Sheldon, who lives on Hillside Lane and whose lot abuts Seamans' Evergreen Lane trailer, said she had complained about the state of Seamans' yard. "He don't clean up," she said. "It's very messy. ... Nobody else's yard is like that."

Richard Carpenter, who lives next door , said Seamans was a hard worker who helped Carpenter with chores after Carpenter had triple bypass surgery in April. Canoga Road neighbor Edward Bobbett said he didn't know the family well, but his few encounters were friendly. "If they were out in the yard, it was, 'Hi. Hello.' That was all," Bobbett said. Seamans worked for several years at Autech Plastics, an injection molding company in Auburn's Technology Park, where he ran a molding machine on the third shift, said company President Charles Beck. Beck said he did not know Seamans personally and would not reveal personal information about his employee, including how long he worked for the company. Beck said only that Seamans performed general factory work, which would involve running machines and other tasks. "This is very upsetting. ... It's a complete surprise to us," Beck said. "You can well imagine if somebody's actually involved in these activities that he's accused of, they would do everything in their power to keep it a secret."
