n Friday night, Henry Kissinger, Timothy Geithner, Amazon's Jeff Bezos, and U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron will meet at a luxury hotel in Watford, England, along with a total of 140 delegates from 21 countries. For three days, they will discuss the major problems facing the world. This is the Bilderberg Group meeting, but it is easy to mistake it as some vast nouveau-Freemason conspiracy. But it is likely far less ominous and far more boring than it sounds.
The Bilderberg Group, which is highly private and features some of the wealthiest and most powerful people on the planet, was founded in 1954. The stated purpose of the group's meetings is to help "foster dialogue between Europe and North America through off-the-record conversations."
To some people, the group is anything but innocuous. There is plenty of paranoia surrounding Bilderberg, including a truly lovely Yahoo! Answers chain on the evidence (or lack thereof) that the group is one of the secretly world-dominating Illuminati. The chain is kicked off with this conversation-starter: ( continues...see the page)

In the eyes of its most extreme enemies, the illuminati are not a creation of the author Dan Brown but, rather, a group of powerful people meeting this weekend in a luxury hotel in the English countryside. Now nearly 60 years old, the Bilderberg Group has been accused of being a secret, shadowy society controlled by the ultra-rich, intent on world domination.
Since Thursday, 130 senior business, political and legal figures have been enjoying the pleasures of the Grove Hotel in Hertfordshire, behind tight security. There, they are debating the need for more growth, “jobs [and] entitlement”, “nationalism and populism”, medical research trends and “the politics of the EU”. The topics also include “cyber warfare and the proliferation of asymmetric threats”, online education and “Africa’s challenges”.
No minutes are kept and no decisions will be made, they insist. Because of the privacy that surrounds it, “the participants are not bound by the conventions of office or by pre-agreed positions. As such, they can take time to listen, reflect and gather insights.”
Such declarations are exactly the problem for its opponents, who see the Bilderberg Group as a body free of democratic restraint, responsible for the Iraq War, airborne chemicals, cancer and privatisation.
Powerful people
Not all of its critics, however, delve into conspiracy-filled language, although, the Labour MP Michael Meacher argues, “These are 130 of the world’s most powerful people. This is not just intended to be a chat. This is intended to reach some decisions and we are not being told what they are.”
Meacher, a former minister under Tony Blair’s Labour government, criticised the presence of politicians such as the European Commission’s Manuel Barroso, Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne and Labour’s Ed Balls, and, before them, his former leader, Tony Blair.
The list includes two Irish names: Peter Sutherland, chairman of Goldman Sachs International, a long-time attender, and a former attorney general, Paul Gallagher, who has come every year since 2010. The head of Google, Eric Schmidt, is present, along with two directors of Facebook, Christine Lagarde of the IMF, and a string of bankers, including HSBC’s chief executive, Stuart Gallagher.
Jake Bexx, who says he is making a documentary on Bilderberg, became interested in it after he listened to “the conspiracy theories told to me by my tattoo artist. I used to believe in world government, the illuminati and all of that. I don’t any more; but they don’t tell us what goes on,” he says.
Two years ago, Bexx began a battle with the treasury to get information about the past attendance of George Osborne at Bilderberg meetings. “They eventually threw me a bone about his expenses,” says Bexx, “£350 for a flight to Switzerland. “I didn’t care about his expenses. I wanted information about what he was doing there.”

Is Cam a 12ft lizard?
Lizard Cameron ... mock-up
By TOM NEWTON DUNN, Political Editor
Published: 18 hrs ago
DAVID Cameron joined “a race of shape-shifting lizards” last night as he visited the top-secret Bilderberg Group.
His presence at the clandestine meeting sparked a furore after Downing Street refused to discuss it — despite a long-standing transparency pledge.
The group of billionaire financiers, political leaders and media moguls is meeting this year in Watford, Herts.
Bilderberg’s secretive nature has sparked a host of conspiracy theories. Sports commentator-turned-nutty theorist David Icke claims the elite group “descended from a race of 12-foot, blood-drinking, shape-shifting lizards”.
Other politicians at the annual three-day meeting are Chancellor George Osborne, Cabinet veteran Ken Clarke and Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls. Also there are IMF boss Christine Lagarde, Google chairman Eric Schmidt, and legendary former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
Despite a £2million police operation to seal off the venue, a boat-load of protesters yesterday sneaked up a canal running through the site to shout insults at attendees.

Nefarious plots by one-world governments, bankers, politicians or, in the case of this weekend, the infamous Bilderberg Group are nothing new. The latter, a "cabal" of influential Atlantacists that first met in 1954 to solidify relations between Europe and the USA (and who have been meeting ever since), has become a catchword for those who like to see “beyond” what they are told by government or media.
Yet for the 2013 conference, hosted at the Grove Hotel in Watford, the vale of secrecy had been partially lifted; the event boasted not only a website detailing attendees and the agenda but also a fringe festival on the perimeter, allowing those who believe the group’s activities might not be in the best interests of democracy a chance to protest in front of the world’s media.
The Bilderberg Group has been blamed for a lot, but...
For people who don’t see plot and intrigue behind every door, "Bilderberg" is something of a buzzword attached to the conspiracy theory community, along with "truthers", "birthers" and countless other alleged "cover ups", from JFK and the moon landings to the more recent accusations thrown at the families of the Sandy Hook victims late last year.
However, with one or two notable exceptions the attendees of the Fringe were far from the kooks, crazies or harbingers of a lizard apocalypse one might be led to expect. Several people told the HuffPost UK they were there because they were worried about issues of transparency in government. Several more voiced concerns about the concentration of power embodied by the politicians and business leaders enjoying canapés in the hotel up the road. Yes – there was talk of “shadow governments”, “hundred-year agendas” and “orchestrated media blackouts” but there was also talk of Libor, the problems of the EU and the unfolding Prism scandal.
SEE ALSO: Cameron's Attendance At Bilderberg Is 'Conflict Of Interest'
When asked how they felt about being dismissed as conspiracy theorists, many pointed to large spa hotel next door as vindication that clandestine groups not only exist, but they could be unveiled by pressure.
Russell, a middle-aged man from Tiverton in Devon, was sat alongside his wife on deck chairs in the corner of the field. Both sported David Icke t-shirts. He told the HuffPost UK they were there to voice opposition to this “small group of people that wield such power”.
“Most people unfortunately still have their head in the sand,” he said. “They [the majority] are driven by the system, they’re controlled by the system and they’ll die by the system. They’re even told what food to eat and what medication to have."
“It’s an undemocratic meeting,” said Claudio, 23, who had travelled from Germany to protest. “There are several attendees from German parties in there and a couple of CEOs. If you think this is just a conspiracy theory, why was the Bilderberg Group so secretive for so long? We’ve finally forced it into the open.”
John, in his thirties, had travelled to Watford from Aylesbury to raise public awareness about the group. “George Osborne and Ed Balls are both up there,” he told the HuffPost UK. “They work for opposing parties. Why are they discussing financial agendas behind closed doors? Also, you can’t discuss matters about Africa without African people here to represent those countries. Who are they [The Bilderberg Group] to make those decisions?”
John said that the influence of the group might be waning, particularly with the rise of the Chinese economy, but thought the group’s real focus was likely to be foreign policy rather than financial matters.

Despite the relaxed atmosphere inside the Fringe (it felt more like a picnic than a protest) security was heavy, with a strong police number backed up by guards in G4S uniforms. Everyone entering the event was given a thorough search with metal detectors, while guards in jeeps patrolled the perimeter fence.
Wearing a pink shirt, a cowboy hat and a large placard, protester Glynn Ellis, offered some flamboyance to the event, insisting he had been "groped" by police. “There are more questions than answers,” he serenaded before launching into a rant: “I don’t exist, this field doesn’t exist, I didn’t get groped on the way in here by G4S security, and there are definitely not 120 world leaders in that hotel up there… which doesn’t exist.” When asked what he thought was on the agenda, Ellis was clear: “The bombing of Iran.”
Then there was Alex Jones, the American radio host, who first came to British attention sparring with Piers Morgan on his CNN show over gun control. Jones, who along with the late Jim Tucker is seen as one of the founders of the movement against Bilderberg, was rapturously welcomed by protesters, being surrounded by cameras and peppered with questions, whilst making his own recording via an iPhone on a small tripod.
Yet in contrast to his bruising encounter with Morgan, Jones was charming, polite and measured in his criticism, his objections bouncing from corporate groups in Europe controlling policy, to manipulation of the media, to how Bilderberg “sets the agenda” for less secretive meetings, such as the G8 and G20.
Jones has been criticised in his homeland for cashing in on people’s fear and paranoia, and devotees of his radio shows will know his beliefs go way beyond Bilderberg, seeing the hand of government everywhere from the Sandy Hook killings to the Boston Marathon. However, it was ironic that the Fringe was held on the weekend that The Guardian broke the Prism surveillance scandal, perhaps giving pause for thought to even the most ardent sceptic who might just think there’s something in this after all.

VIDEO: Bilderberg Day 3
8:43pm Saturday 8th June 2013 in News By Mike Wright and Ben Endley
Thousands of activists crowded into a small corner of grassland near The Grove on Saturday to protest the final day of the controversial Bilderberg Group meeting.
Prominent protestors including American radio DJ Alex Jones, author and conspiracy theorist David Icke and Bilderberg Fringe Festival organiser Charlie Skelton spoke to attendees throughout the afternoon.
The day saw by far the largest crowd of the three-day protest with organisers claiming as many as 2,000 more supporters were prevented from attending due to the capacity limit.
The large police presence – including officers from Hertfordshire, Essex and Thames Valley police – enjoyed good-natured banter with the activists as they queued to enter the protest area.
Alex Jones addresses the Bilderberg protesters.
During his hour-long discussion Jones accused the Bilderberg group of trying to “shut off society” and planning to reduce global population by 80 per cent.
More than 1,000 activists attended Saturday's event
He ended his speech by encouraging the crowd to chant “Bilderberg is fallen” and “humanity is rising” towards The Grove hotel where the meeting is taking place.
Inside the hotel, figures including Prime Minister David Cameron, chancellor George Osborne, Google CEO Eric Schmidt and former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger are meeting to discuss a variety of topics in secret.
Delegates are expected to depart the hotel tomorrow morning.

The 2013 meeting of the Bilderberg Group is currently underway, with the usual clampdown on media coverage, but it appears that “big data” is one of the main topics on the agenda.
Big data refers to the massive amounts of information that are currently being gathered through the use of modern technology.
The Bilderberg Group mostly uses big data to analyze global megatrends and the information gathered by intelligence agencies.
Other topics of discussion this year include economic growth, US foreign policy, Africa's challenges, cyber-warfare, and online education.
The meeting opened in Watford, England on June 6 and closes on June 9.
British Prime Minister David Cameron, International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Google chairman Eric Schmidt, and former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger are some of the people attending the 2013 Bilderberg meeting.
This year, a larger contingent of activists is protesting against the meeting.
The Bilderberg Group is an invitation-only community which holds annual meetings with approximately 140 guests attending. It is comprised of many wealthy and influential people in the fields of politics, banking, business, the military, and news media.
Although the names of attendees and the agenda for meetings are available on their website, the group holds its meetings in private and there are no press releases about them, which has raised suspicions about the Bilderbergers.
The group first convened in 1954 at the Hotel de Bilderberg in The Netherlands, which the group was named after.

Mr Jones, who runs a conspiracy theory website, began shouting and ranting after the Sunday Politics host told him to “shut it”.
As he screamed “freedom will not stop, you will not stop freedom” Mr Neil tried to bring the show to a close, telling him he was the worst guest ever, then stifling a laugh and pulling faces as he said: “We have an idiot on the programme today.”
Mr Jones appeared on the Sunday morning show as the secretive Bilderberg Group - comprising politicians, economists, academics and business leaders - is meeting at a hotel in Watford.
But after his on-air meltdown Mr Neil claimed that it has been put on.

“The moment Alex Jones knew he was no longer on air he stopped. All an act,” he wrote on Twitter.
Mr Jones appeared alongside David Aaronovitch, a journalist and author who has written a book debunking conspiracy theories.
“Bilderberg is heavily involved in the EU plan and helped hatched it and it is a Nazi plan,” Mr Jones claimed.
“It is the ultimate lobbying meeting”, he said, adding that the attendees were “puppeteers above the major parties”.
Mr Aaronovitch questioned the truth of Mr Jones' claims, asking why he had not been killed for exposing what he describes as a deadly new world order.
The radio host was told several times to be quiet and let his counterpart speak, until eventually Mr Neil can be heard in the background telling him “Oi - shut it.”
At this point Mr Jones, who suggested the BBC were part of the conspiracy, lost his temper, shouting: “Listen, I am here to warn. You keep telling me to shut up. This is isn’t a game.”
Mr Neil responded: “You are the worst person I have ever interviewed.”
The American then began raising his voice, trying to shout over the host who was thanking his other guest.
Pointing and shouting as he plugged his website he ranted: “Freedom will not stop, you will not stop freedom. You will stop the republic. Humanity is awakening.”
When Mr Neill made a gesture signifying he thought Mr Jones was mentally unstable he shouted: “No, you guys are crazy.”
After the show the “shock jock” – named for his aggressive radio style – said he thought his appearance was a success but denied that it was an “act”.
On his website claims were posted the he “confronted” the BBC and shadow Chancellor Ed Balls and “blew Bilderberg wide open”.
Mr Aaronovitch also took to Twitter to talk about the controversial show, telling his followers: “If you thought that @daily_politics discussion on #Bilderberg was mad to watch, all I can say is that actually being there was even crazier.”
Claiming he had “warned” the BBC about the conspiracy theorist he added: “Jones told me afterwards that his appearance on @daily_politics had been a great success. I told him that Brits don't much like yelling.”
Mr Jones is no stranger to controversial interviews. In January launched a tirade of abuse on Piers Morgan after he was invited on the show to debate gun control.
He later started a petition to get the chat show host deported.

Bilderberg 2013 : UK Prime Minister to attend this year's secretive 'Gathering of Power'
By: Tasos Laurentiadis (more) | Business, Financial & Legal News | Posted: 20 hours, 7 mins ago
The Prime Minister of Britain, David Cameron, is to attend a behind-closed-doors meeting of global business leaders, politicians, and academics that critics say is too secretive. Number 10 Downing Street--which is the British equivalent to the US White House--said the prime minister had been invited to the Bilderberg meeting in Hertfordshire in his role as head of the government hosting it. Other politicians listed as attending are Ken Clarke, George Osborne, Lord Mandelson, Ed Balls, and Lady Williams, plus the former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, the prime minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, the former US commander in Afghanistan and former CIA director General Petraeus. The list also includes business and banking leaders like Google boss Eric Schmidt, Amazon founder and chief executive Jeff Bezos, Goldman Sachs International chairman Peter Sutherland, and former Barclays chairman Marcus Agius.
Downing Street confirmed Cameron's attendance on Friday, saying he would "participate in a discussion around domestic and global economic issues. He feels it is an opportunity to discuss economic issues with senior ministers, businesspeople and academics." The Bilderberg group says that topics to be discussed at its 2013 meeting include economic growth, cyber warfare, medical research trends, Middle East developments and EU politics.
The annual Bilderberg meetings of the world's political and financial elite are pitched as a forum for "informal, off-the-record discussions about megatrends and the major issues facing the world." The Bilderberg Group maintains that the private nature of the conferences allow people to "listen, reflect and gather insights" without being bound by "pre-agreed positions." Critics say the numbers of people attending--around 140 are invited from Europe and the US--mean it should be more accountable. Gathered protesters have heckled those arriving at the four-day event on Thursday.
Downing Street indicated it would not be providing a summary of Mr. Cameron's discussions to the press, but denied it was a departure from the prime minister's pledge to lead the most transparent government in the world. "The prime minister regularly has meetings with key ministers from other countries and with business people and others as part of his job," the spokesman said. "We have advanced the fact that he is doing this today. It is not as though he has gone to do this without telling anyone about it." Labour MP Michael Meacher, who was among protesters outside the Grove Hotel on Thursday said: "These are people who are all in the most dominant positions in the governance of Western capitalism. They only meet in order to concert their plans about the future of capitalism over the immediate future period--the next year or two. My objection is that it's being done in utter secrecy with the police keeping everyone else out."
Founded in May 1954, Bilderberg is an annual conference designed to foster dialogue between Europe and North America. It takes its name from the Dutch hotel where the first meeting took place. Between 120 and 150 political leaders and experts from industry, finance, academia, and the media are invited to take part. It is described as a forum for informal, off-the-record discussions about major global issues. There is no detailed agenda, no resolutions are proposed, no votes are taken, and no policy statements are issued.

|
|
They are spying on us. Every email and telephone call is monitored. Every comment in a chat room is noted. Even letters are opened.
It is all to do with getting absolute control over our lives. Think George Orwell’s 1984, Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, or a fascist boot crushing the face of a friend.
The spying has nothing to do with stopping terror attacks. At present, when the snoopers pick up information about a terror attack, they allow the attack to go ahead: indeed, they help it to go ahead. This is because any attack gives the snoopers and controllers another chance to advance more snooping and more control.
The New York World Trade Center attack on 9/11/2001 was known about months in advance. It was allowed to happen AND helped to happen so that three thousand Americans were murdered. (Think Tower Number Seven, which was blown up and was NOT hit by an airplane).
9/11 happened because, as revealed by General Wesley Clark, the CIA and Mossad wanted to destroy seven Islamic countries -- Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia, and Sudan. And look at what has happened to those countries since 2001!
The Christmas Day ‘bomber’ was escorted onto the airplane by a CIA handler. The so-called ‘bomber’ had been given dud explosive for his underpants. This was done to justify the immediate introduction of X-ray scanning machines at airports…
In the USA, as the New York Times has pointed out, the FBI specializes in creating fake terrorist plots and entrapping witless pansies such as the Christmas Day ‘bomber’.
The Boston Marathon bombing was known about beforehand but allowed to go ahead, as was the Woolwich atrocity, because the spooks wanted it to happen so that they could openly announce, as they are now doing, that they spy on every aspect of our lives and are rapidly moving towards absolute control.
What’s more, they are bragging about this. They say there’s nothing we can do about it. For fifty years, the BBC (an institution of organized lying) has denied the existence of the sinister Bilderberg Group but, thanks to the tenacious work of journalists like James Tucker, Daniel Estulin, and Alex Jones, this year’s meeting, in North London has been exposed.
Attendees include top snooper UK Prime Minister David Cameron and, in particular, David Petraeus, former CIA director and a smarmy, thoroughly nasty, piece of work. Petraeus is presiding over this year’s discussion agenda item on Big Data. This is code for using spying to take complete control over every aspect of our lives. The 2013 Bilderberg conference is finalizing the details of the worldwide Big Data PRISM spy grid with intent to control everything.
Moreover, Petraeus has hailed the Internet of Things as causing a transformational boon for ‘clandestine tradecraft’. The Internet of Things is the process of manufacturing every new product with a system that broadcasts wirelessly via the worldwide web, allowing the government to spy ubiquitously on every aspect of our existence.
The spooks won’t have to plant a bug in your home or your vehicle because we will have done it for them. Cunning stuff!
Of course, President Obama is lying his head off about the spying. On the one hand, he says nobody is listening to telephone calls while, on the other, saying that it all has to be done to prevent terror attacks. What he does not say is that he is the main agent of a corrupt Western finance capitalism.
Obama and his Bilderberg cronies never say that the way to stop terrorist attacks is for the West to stop making thousands of terrorist attacks (by drones and throat-slitting, head-chopping proxies) in the Islamic lands. They never admit that THEY are the ones who create the terrorism and do it a thousand times more to others than is done to them.
Obama, a preposterous liar and lover of snooping, is flouting his country’s constitution and introducing a worldwide cyber control combined with war. He is a classic fascist -- aggression abroad (against Islam) combined with repression (think cyber spying and two billion Homeland Security Agency dum-dum bullets) at home.
NB. Websites that we think are friendly to us are, in reality, our enemies. The head of Google, of course, is at Bilderberg. Google and Facebook are the agents of the snoopers giving them everything that they want. The USA PRISM program, with the UK in tow, is a gigantic net picking up everything from Apple, Google, Facebook and the like. You can forget warrants from judges and justices before the information is picked up. We are at the mercy of the snoopers and controllers.
Unless, of course, we get off our backsides and resolve to fight them.

Alex Jones ranting on the Sunday Politics programme (Picture: BBC)
American conspiracy theorist Alex Jones launched into a rant on the BBC’s Sunday Politics show, prompting host Andrew Neil to call him an ‘idiot’.
Mr Jones was invited on to the programme to talk about the meeting of Bilderberg group of business leaders, politicians and policymakers.
The volatile radio show host believes the group is part of a shadowy network governing the world, among his many other conspiracy theories.
He told host Mr Neil the creation of the euro was a ‘Nazi German plan’, ‘Bilderberg is heavily involved in the EU plan’ and ‘it is a Nazi plan’.
‘We have forced them from cover to admit they’re puppeteers above the major parties,’ he said.
Fellow guest journalist David Aaronovitch, who has written about conspiracy theorists, pointed out that if they are so powerful and ruthless ‘why are you still alive?’.

THE secretive Bilderberg Group is nothing more than a talking shop, according to senior member and former British Chancellor Ken Clarke.
By: Owen BennettPublished: Mon, June 10, 2013
Ken Clarke has denied there is anything sinister about the Bilderberg Group
If I was plotting to do anything, I would not actually assemble that particular group of people because we would never agree on anything.
Ken Clarke
The Conservative politician told the House of Commons today the group, which met last week near Watford in Hertfordshire, took no decisions and made no resolutions.
Conspiracy theorists believe the organisation, which counts high ranking politicians, international businesspeople and royalty among its membership, is actually a shadow world government designed to forward the interests of big business.
Responding to a question from Labour MP Michael Meacher as to why no statement about the content of the meeting had been made, Mr Clarke said: "We go there for the chance of having an off-the-record, informal discussion with the range of people you described, who are indeed distinguished but who are not remotely interested in getting together to decide anything.
"With the greatest respect, this is total, utter nonsense, and I would not normally regard you as the sort of person who would be taken in by this sort of rubbish.
"Nobody attends representing any particular organisation.
"The Bilderberg does not take any decisions and it doesn't have any resolutions.
"This is the first time that I've ever visited the House of Commons to answer questions on behalf of a private organisation of which the British Government has absolutely no responsibility whatsover.
"If I was plotting to do anything, I would not actually assemble that particular group of people because we would never agree on anything."
American 'shock jock' Alex Jones believes the Bilderberg Group is a secret world government
Other members of the government who attended the meeting included Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne and Prime Minister David Cameron.
Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer Ed Balls also attended, and he echoed Mr Clarke's comments that there was nothing sinister about the organisation.
He said: "It's important government ministers and shadow ministers meet regularly."
Mr Balls said he welcomes the decision of Bilderberg's organisers to disclose a list of attendees and subject matter, in the interests of transparency
Topics discussed included US/Europe economic growth and job creation; Africa; trends in medical research; and developments in the Middle East.
Mr Balls said they "are all vital issues which every Government and Opposition must grapple with for the benefits of all citizens".
