7) TECHNOLOGIES THAT ARE COMPLEMENTARY TO THE MICROCHIP IMPLANT


We’re going to talk now, in a non exhaustive way, about some existing technologies that might be associated to the subcutaneous microchip to make it more “perfect” or to raise manipulation and control of minds, bodies and behaviours.

Please remember this : all that is said in this part of the article already exists now; if you didn’t hear about it in the mass medias or if you don’t hear about it anymore at the moment, it doesn’t mean that “they” aren’t planning things out of our knowledge !


A) Cybernetics :

This part of technology is only (officially !) at its first steps of development. Nevertheless, some articles, such as the one that was published in the Washington Post of the 28th of August 2001, can’t leave us indifferent. It’s also possible to visit the French site http://www.lemonde.fr and to ask to check the edition of the 15th of November 2001.

The article is about a discovery that allows to have living brain cells interacting with an electronic circuit made of silicium parts. The experiment consisted in making a “partially living” electronic circuit made of numerous snail neurones glued to tiny transistors. The cells were communicating between them and with the silicium pads.

The applications that were thought about for this discovery were: developing artificial retinas and prosthesis that would be extensions of the human nervous system (!), helping the blind to regain sight and the paralysed to “make objects move just by the thought”, building computers that would be as inventive and adaptable as our own nervous system, building a generation of robots that would really deserve to be called “intelligent”.

Aside those wonderful “humanist” applications, you can already imagine the dangers of such a technology that truly plays with the living ! Finally, cybernetic arms and hands already exist and were developed and tested on human beings in several parts of the world.


B) The HAARP project :


The HAARP (High-frequency Active Auroral Research Project) is a project of the U.S. Army and of the oil company “Apti-Arco” and that replaced the “Star Wars” project, even though HAARP is land based. Powerful and polyvalent, HAARP takes advantage of the ionosphere (layer of the atmosphere that is located above the stratosphere and constituted of ionised particles that are highly charged in energy) in order to use it as an energy weapon. HAARP facility is a huge installation of several hectares located in Gakona, Alaska. It’s a vast deforested and flat perimeter, flanked by 48 antennas that are 28 metres high; each of them is linked to a transmitter that’s a little bit less powerful than one million (!) watts. The use of HAARP is the following : they bombard the ionosphere with extremely high frequency waves. The ionosphere is then transformed in some kind of enormous virtual “mirror” that acts like an antenna. That virtual antenna will retransmit extremely low frequency waves, which creates some kind of “gigantic microwave oven” in a specific part of the ionosphere. Let’s also notice that extremely low frequency waves are harmful to the nervous system and can allow mind control, create hallucinations etc.

The applications of HAARP :

• Interrupting all kind of Hertzian communication and broadcast

• Destroying jets or missiles in the sky or messing up their electronic radars

• Causing explosions as powerful as an atomic bomb

• Modifying the weather

• Influencing human behaviours (since we saw that waves can influence the behaviour, and given the power of HAARP, we can imagine the terrifying use that could be done from it ! This is where there could be a link with the microchip implant : HAARP could work like a powerful relay with satellites or like a gigantic transmitter for mind control over populations ! ).



C) Liquid crystals vaccines :

Among the novelties regarding vaccination, we find liquid crystals vaccines…

We know that D.N.A. is constituted of liquid crystals. The idea of liquid crystals vaccines about injecting in the organism (by intra muscular way, for instance) some “nude D.N.A.” which is made of repetitive sequences of D.N.A. (that D.N.A. can be synthetic) that are the supports of cellular information. On those repetitive sequences of D.N.A. are transplanted either sequences of viral D.N.A. or coding genes for viral or bacterial proteins. The integration of that genetic material to our cells is very quick, and we can’t control the synthesis of the proteins that are made afterwards, as they are integrated to our genetic heritage.

Problem : when you’re injected a vaccine, who knows what’s in it, exactly ? Who knows if it’s a “traditional” vaccine or a liquid crystals vaccine ? Even the doctor who injects it to you sincerely ignores it !

But the question that is asked here is once more in relationship with the control of individuals : that “foreign” D.N.A. that is implanted through a vaccine, isn’t it some kind of “antenna” that could be programmed from the outside and that is introduced in our organism in order to reach objectives that could be very different from the humanist health purpose ? Are we sure that there is no risk that, stimulated by some external phenomenon (a precise wavelength transmitted by satellites and that would be relayed by a microchip implanted in the body, for instance), those D.N.A. (and virus) particles, once integrated in our organism, wouldn’t activate our immunity system, but on the contrary would slow it down or stop it, or would produce toxins or lethal viruses ? Then, it would be some massive technique of control used against people, with a cellular antenna that would short-circuit the individual consciousness !

Some people are seriously wondering about this, notably in Quebec and in the U.S.A. . The very great book of Anne Givaudan, “Les dossiers sur le gouvernement mondial” (“The files about the worldwide government”), is very explicit regarding the role of vaccines, a role that is not very curative (some even have serious side effects !).



D) The chemtrails :


The “chemtrails” (chemical trails) are tracks made by the reactors of jets and airplanes. But they’re not the usual condensation trails (“contrails”) !

On the contrary, chemtrails are made of chemical particles falling over the populations living in the villages above which the jet dropped its dangerous cargo !!!

The characteristics of these chemical trails is the expansion that they reach in the sky and their “life expectancy” : looking like condensation trails at first, they spread so much that they look like “expanded clouds” and sometimes, they can remain more than 30 minutes or even hours in the sky before disappearing. The goal of those “chemical operations” is not well known yet : testing the resistance of populations to some chemicals or testing the toxicity of these chemicals ? Spreading viruses, nanoparticles or bacteriological weapons upon a given area ? Helping the rise of the greenhouse effect ? Spreading chemicals that will reinforce the power and the effects of the HAARP ?

Anyway, one thing is certain : governments are usually involved in these chemical operations, and the Congress of the U.S.A. even recognized chemtrails as “exotic weapons”. E) Nanotechnology :

Nanotechnology is based on the “conquest of the infinitely small”. In this kind of technology, scientists work at the scale of a nanometre (nm), which means the billionth part of a metre, or 80.000 times less than the thickness of a hair !

So, what is produced with the help of this technology is made at the molecular or atomic scale.

Like all the other technologies that can bring “big money”, one tries to develop it to the maximum, boasting its “humanist” and humanitarian qualities, but in reality, dangerous applications could be made with it (and we’re getting there, as you’ll see…). Europe wishes to create an industrial nanotechnology platform and, only for 2003, the European Union will grant 700 millions of euros (!) for nanotechnological researches. So much money is probably not given for charity purposes, as you can figure…

This is how, without hiding or even blushing, the European Commission (whose Mr. Philippe Busquin, ancient Belgian politician who became European Commissioner for research, is the ambassador) will finance, among other projects, “D.N.A. matrices and biochips”, in order to develop a disposable biochip for cheap D.N.A. analyses… Incredible, but true !

No, honestly, our good old Europe is not sheltered !

Even more revolting : these nanochips are so tiny that we could inhale them, eat them or even get them in our organism through the pores of our skin, without our knowledge ! But the most abominable thing of all is that, past a certain size, these nanochips could break the blood brain barrier that protects our brain, and directly attack our nervous system !

Big question : by introducing nanochips or nanorobots in our body, what are the risks ? For if these nanochips can be used to “spot cancerous cells” or to heal a disease inside the human body, why couldn’t they be used to destroy that same body ? After all, this is only a matter of intention and of programming… And if these nanochips can modify some of the DNA genes, we can be VERY afraid ! Now, you also understand how the microchip, that is only one millimetre long, can contain 250.000 pieces !

We also need you to know that, at the moment where you’ll read these lines, there are technical and technological abilities to create identification nanochips (totally invisible for the human eye !) and to implant them, in one way or the other, in human beings. Some projects were developed in that purpose !



F) Biometrics :

Biometrics is the science that calculates the measurements of a human organ. But today, the applications mostly made it a means of control and identity check. Noticing that fingerprints are permanent and unique, that they are created before birth and that their pattern stays the same for life, our “good” old industry, without any morality, used them in order to create identification systems based on fingerprints, on the morphology of the hand, on the analysis of DNA samples or on the iris of the eye (the latter being the most reliable method).

But of course, once again we are shown the wonderful eases and the lightning progress that are offered by this technology : over with passwords and confidential codes that are difficult to remember; over with the risks of theft, oblivion, transfer etc.



G) The “Brain machine interface program” :

I must tell you about D.A.R.P.A.’s inhuman project to chain the human mind AND body through a brainchip : this project based on microchips implanted in the brain, in the nerves, on the neurones or on soft tissues of the body (!) is called “Brain machine interface program”. It allows, thanks to cerebral chips that act more or less like “remote controls”, to control totally (like remote controlled cars !) the implanted animals and humans; this hideous device is also the base for the development of “telepathy” and “telekynesy” through the material means offered by those cerebral microchips that act as a relay. In fact, this invention allows the individual to act on the outer world thanks to microchips and microelectrodes, but it also allows the “outer world” to act on the individual and to control him ! Thanks to that technological horror, no more free-agency and no more control on yourself, be it at the level of thoughts or even at the level of movements ! And considering the very delicate parts of the body where this device is placed (on neurones, in the brain or on nerves), removing this implant would be very dangerous, it would require a heavy surgical operation and could even cause irreversible
sequels !

Lately, human volunteer patients who had the Parkinson’s disease were used as guinea pigs for those revolting experiments. All of this, of course, under fake humanist pretexts like “tests to help those patients to heal from their disease” or to “improve their daily life”… Let’s not forget that D.A.R.P.A. (Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency) is a military institution for defence, and so, that its projects aren’t focused on humanism and on the well being of people, unlike what they’re trying to make us believe ! Regarding neural and brain chips, other noticeable inventions are the BrainGate and the Neuroport, both developed by the company Cyberkinetics. Just like the Brain Machine Interface Program, they claim to have only “medical” and “humanist” purposes, but they show the very same dangers and drifts than the Brain machine interface program ! Please be aware that these inventions are not only what they seem to be : they ALSO are a means to CONTROL THE POPULATIONS, physically AND spiritually !!! With all of these liberticide technologies (= technologies that KILL the liberties), the worst Orwellian nightmares are about to come true !!!



H) Other means to oppress or chain human beings :

We now have so many means to use the environment, the animals and the people like guinea pigs or to turn them into mindless zombies that we’re lacking room to detail them all : let’s list, among other things, the problem of genetically modified organisms (G.M.O.s), the cloning and all the other possible genetic drifts, but also the weapons and programs of the C.I.A. destined to control the human mind and behaviour. In one word, to the light of all these technologies and techniques, we can assert the following statement : always presented with wonderful and beneficial arguments and intentions, those inventions are often discovered in industrial and/or military environment, which always makes them potential weapons because they’re only dedicated to power, war or benefit at all costs. The biggest mistake of humankind nowadays, is to consider any thing, any being and the most precious gift (=life) as a simple merchandise, and to have been tempted to sacrifice spiritual things at the benefit of material things. We’re getting to a time where a very important choice will have to be made : either we’ll choose a change that, finally, will bring back true values, or then we’ll go for nonchalance and tolerance for all those horrors that are already happening now, and in that case it will be a long and painful road…

Like Anne Givaudan stated in her book : “Technology without love leads to draught, be it of your planet or of yourself”. In order to finish this chapter, we’ll say that our world really needs awareness and a lot of love to see a better reality taking place.

This article is certainly not destined to scare you and has no pretension, but its goal is to inform a maximum of persons about the danger that’s about to knock on our door…

Does reality seem dark to you ? OK. But it’s not because it’s dark that nothing can be done. We are the actors who build the world every day, and the vile system that is prepared for us won’t be able to succeed if the population, worldwide, stands against that system. But we must change our views and react, we must have the courage to leave our little comfort behind and to shout out loud our disapproval. And moreover, we must keep ourselves informed and be careful regarding the information that we’re given, checking everything systematically (let’s not forget that our medias are under the command of the government and are part of big multinational companies that are at the origin of the problem, so what these medias broadcast is usually fake or deformed information).

If your heart and your consciousness vibrated or woke up while reading this article, then please go on with this information task and tell your friends, your family, your colleagues or broadcast this message to the max (in English or in a foreign language, because the message must be heard everywhere, the whole world must know and react).

Then, only if we all react against what some insane persons planned for our future, then we’ll be able to avoid a worldwide catastrophe. Don’t forget about this either : if the Nazis and their inhuman system were able to take the power, it is, before anything else, thanks to the SILENT CONSENT of the German citizens ! If populations remain indifferent and just shrug their shoulders or let themselves be perverted by the propaganda of the mass medias that sells the chip as a “miracle product”, it is SURE that the microchip implant will spread and be generalized, with all the gloomy consequences that this implies, and that a worldwide dictatorship will be implemented !

What is the RFID-Zapper?

The RFID-Zapper is a gadget to deactivate (i.e. destroy) passive RFID-Tags permanently.
The development-team presently consists of two people (MiniMe and Mahajivana), who had some help from a friend (thanks for that).
Goals are a proof-of-concept and the construction of at least one functioning and appealing prototype, as well as a documentation of the project so everyone can build an RFID-Zapper. Since the project found so much positive resonance, we probably are going to work on some other realizations of the concept, e.g. building an RFID-Zapper from scratch, without a single-use-camera.
Why should I need such a thing?

We have to expect to be surrounded by RFID-Tags almost everywhere within the near future, and they will serve many different purposes. The benefits and risks of this technology and it's use are already being discussed. However, there will be attempts to use RFID-Tags to establish constant surveillance and to further threaten and compromise the privacy of customers (and citizens and even non-citizens, when governments start to use RFID-Tags like the German government already did).
To defend yourself against such measures, you might want a small, simple and relatively appealing gadget to permanently deactivate RFID-Tags around you, e.g., to deactivate RFID-Tags in recently bought clothing or books without damaging them.
How does the RFID-Zapper work?

Passive RFID tags have no internal power supply. The minute electrical current induced in the antenna by the incoming radio frequency signal provides just enough power for the CMOS integrated circuit (IC) in the tag to power up and transmit a response.

There are several ways to deactivate RFID-Tags. One that might be offered by the industries are RFID-deactivators, which will send the RFID-Tag to sleep. A problem with this method is, that it is not permanent, the RFID-Tag can be reactivated (probably without your knowledge). Several ways of permanently deactivating RFID-Tags are known, e.g., cutting off the antenna from the actual microchip or overloading and literally frying the RFID-Tag in a common microwave-oven, which needs to be turned on only for a short period of time. Unfortunately both methods aren't suitable for the destruction of RFID-Tags in clothes: cutting off the antenna would require to damage the piece of cloth, while frying the chips is likely to cause a small but potent flame, which would damage most textiles or even set them on fire.

The RFID-Zapper solves this dilemma. Basically it copies the microwave-oven-method, but in a much smaller scale. It generates a strong electromagnetic field with a coil, which should be placed as near to the target RFID-Tag as possible. The RFID-Tag then will receive a strong shock of energy comparable with an EMP and some part of it will blow, thus deactivating the chip forever.
To keep the costs of the RFID-Zapper as low as possible, we decided to modify the electric component of a singe-use-camera with flash, as can be found almost everywhere. The coil is made from coated copper wire and placed inside the camera exactly where the film has been. Then one end of the coil is soldered to the camera's capacitor, from which we earlier disconnected the flash. The other end of the coil is soldered to a switch, which itself is connected to the capacitor's other terminal. Once everything is tested, the camera can be closed again and henceforth will serve as a RFID-Zapper, destroying RFID-Tags with the power of ordinary batteries.
State of the project

The original project was finished successfully and introduced at 22C3. Several RFID-Zappers were built at 22C3 in a workshop.
Modification of a single-use-camera with flash has proven to be relatively easy, the capacitor is able to supply enough electrical current.
An old, slightly damaged Camera could also be modified into a RFID-Zapper during the workhop at 22C3.
As far as we know, about 20 working RFID-Zappers were built so far. In only one case we encountered serious problems, the capacitor seemed to be broken.
By the way: It is possible to carefully (don't expose it to any light) extract the photographic film from the camera for further use. (Most films from single-use-camera's seem to have no DX encoding, so they might be useful for push processing or even pull processing But don't expect to much from such films, single-use-cameras usually don't come with a high-quality film.
Proof-of-Concept

Before we first tried to modify a single-use-camera, we tested the concept on a passive 13,56-MHz-RFID-Tag:
We took an old external flash apart, which had a guide number of 24. The capacitor of the flash had 330 μF and 300 V.
selfwound coil, measures 4,5 x 8 cm, insulated copper wire, 1mm thick, 5 windings
We then de-soldered the actual flash from the capacitor and then soldered the coil to it, but placed a switch between one of the capacitor's terminals and the coil, which later would close the curcuit. The capacitor now could be loaded like before and even made the usual high-pitched sound.
To see whether the RFID-Tag was functioning or not, we had a RFID-Finder, a gadget to find RFID-Tags.
Then we ran several tests, each time loading the capacitor to a higher level, before closing the curcuit.
When loaded to about 100 V, the RFID-Zapper was able to destroy the RFID-Tags placed right next to it. No visible damage was done to the paper, in which the tag was wrapped. Since the strength of the electrical field decreases with the square of the distance, the final RFID-Zapper will definetly need a capacitor that can supply more than 100 V. Since we didn't have enough RFID-Tags we couldn't test the range of the RFID-Zapper with more current, e.g. 200 V or even 300 V.

(This part of this article probably will be longer than the equivalent part in the german article, since english-speaking peoble seem to be more concerned with safety matters and less careful with electric devices
Poldi kindly informed us, that having a RFID-Zapper with you when checking in to a plane might cause trouble or even get you arrested (he almost was). RFID-Zappers are basically some kind of pocket-EMP. Although we doubt that it has the capacity to cause any trouble aboard an airplane, we seriously recommend against testing it, for reasons of your own health as well as that of others.
RFID-Zappers don't comply with FCC rules.
Modifying a single-use-camera into a RFID-Zapper isn't completely free of risks. If the capacitor is still charged fully or partly, you might catch yourself an electric shock. If you are a healthy, young person, this is probably only going to hurt a lot, but if you should have any kind of problems with your heart and/or circulation, you definetly want to properly decharge the capacitor first. If you use a bigger capacitor, the risk increases.
Soldering irons are known to be unpleasantly hot at the tip.
We also recommend against using the RFID-Zapper on RFID-Tags found within electrical devices, for these are likely to suffer damage too. You also shouldn't use RFID-Zappers too near to electric devices, especially if they are expensive. You also shouldn't use it near any magnetic data storage, like floppy disc, MCs, hard discs, credit cards, streamer-cartridges and so on. And don't try it near your grandpa's pacemaker or other sensitive medical equipment either!
We don't think that the RFID-Zapper is a strong source of what is known in Germany as Elektrosmog, which means some kind of smog caused by electromagnetic fields. But if you are concerned about it, you might want to be careful. Unfortunately we can't tell you whether wearing a hat of aluminium helps or not.
The RFID-Zapper might cause you to feel armed against companies or governments trying to compromise your privacy. You might even experience euphoria, especially when destroying RFID-Tags. This could lead to dangerous behavior, like speaking your mind, using freedom of speech, fighting for your rights, all of which are bound to ultimately lead to the communist world revolution
Shoplifting:
No. This tool was not constructed as a burgular tool and is not to be used as. Besides, shops do not use RFID-Chips for eletronic theft prevention. However, it may be considered as such as a result of unknowledge.

These RFID-zappers and other gadgets are a way to actually help people ACCEPT RFID technology.

People DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE DANGERS ANYMORE, thinking that the gadgets (RFID Guardian, RFID Zapper...) will actually work and protect them...

But let me ask you a question : HOW will you be CERTAIN that the "antiRFID" gizmo that you use is working PROPERLY AND EFFECTIVELY ???

How can you be SURE that it will destroy the RFID tag or that it will erase the TOTALITY of the data contained in the RFID tag ???

The answer is : you will have NO MEANS to be certain, and you'll have to trust blindly the aforementioned gadget.

Just imagine that you buy one of these gadgets, and that it's broken, defect or not working properly... Too bad for your freedom and for your privacy !!!

I would prefer a COMPLETE OPPOSITION in order to make RFID TOTALLY ILLEGAL AND PROHIBITED. This is actually the ONLY WAY we'll be able to be protected from the dangers, drifts and abuses of RFID technology.

you are very right. Never accept any of this devlish, condemnable New World Order stuff to be implanted. It is sufficient that we bear those chips around with us on our banking and medical cards. And many of us have those RFID-Chips for entry into restricted areas in some company's "sanctuary".

I did not want to get the impression that the RFID-Zapper is meant to work for implanted chips in human.

I think the Computer Chaos Club, Hamburg (ccc.de) has only had the intention to develop such a zapper to destroy RFID-Chips in goods you buy. As you know there are more and more companies who chip their goods (e.g. Gillette) and others. To destroy those chips the Zapper might be a solution.

Experts predict that humans could soon have ID chips implanted under the skin

Human beings may be forced to be 'microchipped' like pet dogs, a shocking official report into the rise of the Big Brother state has warned.

The microchips - which are implanted under the skin - allow the wearer's movements to be tracked and store personal information about them.

They could be used by companies who want to keep tabs on an employee's movements or by Governments who want a foolproof way of identifying their citizens - and storing information about them.

The prospect of 'chip-citizens' - with its terrifying echoes of George Orwell's 'Big Brother' police state in the book 1984 - was raised in an official report for Britain's Information Commissioner Richard Thomas into the spread of surveillance technology.

The report, drawn up by a team of respected academics, claims that Britain is a world-leader in the use of surveillance technology and its citizens the most spied-upon in the free world.

It paints a frightening picture of what Britain might be like in ten years time unless steps are taken to regulate the use of CCTV and other spy technologies.

The reports editors Dr David Murakami Wood, managing editor of the journal Surveillance and Society and Dr Kirstie Ball, an Open University lecturer in Organisation Studies, claim that by 2016 our almost every movement, purchase and communication could be monitored by a complex network of interlinking surveillance technologies.

The most contentious prediction is the spread in the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.

The RFID chips - which can be detected and read by radio waves - are already used in new UK passports and are also used the Oyster card system to access the London Transport network.

For the past six years European countries have been using RFID chips to identify pet animals.

Already used in America

However, its use in humans has already been trialled in America, where the chips were implanted in 70 mentally-ill elderly people in order to track their movements.

And earlier this year a security company in Ohio chipped two of its employees to allow them to enter a secure area. The glass-encased chips were planted in the recipients' upper right arms and 'read' by a device similar to a credit card reader.

In their Report on the Surveillance Society, the authors now warn: "The call for everyone to be implanted is now being seriously debated."

The authors also highlight the Government's huge enthusiasm for CCTV, pointing out that during the 1990s the Home Office spent 78 per cent of its crime prevention budget - a total of £500 million - on installing the cameras.

There are now 4.2 million CCTV cameras in Britain and the average Briton is caught on camera an astonishing 300 times every day.

This huge enthusiasm comes despite official Home Office statistics showing that CCTV cameras have 'little effect on crime levels'.

They write: "The surveillance society has come about us without us realising", adding: "Some of it is essential for providing the services we need: health, benefits, education. Some of it is more questionable. Some of it may be unjustified, intrusive and oppressive."

Yesterday Information Commissioner Richard Thomas, whose office is investigating the Post Office, HSBC, NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland over claims they dumped sensitive customer details in the street, said: "Many of these schemes are public sector driven, and the individual has no choice over whether or not to take part."

"People are being scrutinised and having their lives tracked, and are not even aware of it."

He has also voiced his concern about the consequences of companies, or Government agencies, building up too much personal information about someone.

He said: "It can stigmatise people. I have worries about technology being used to identify classes of people who present some kind of risk to society. And I think there are real anxieties about that."

Yesterday a spokesman for civil liberties campaigners Liberty said: "We have got nothing about these surveillance technologies in themselves, but it is their potential uses about which there are legitimate fears. Unless their uses are regulated properly, people really could find themselves living in a surveillance society.

"There is a rather scary underlying feeling that people may worry that these microchips are less about being a human being than becoming a barcoded product."

The religious aspects of this are my concern. I refuse to be implanted due to my religious beliefs. They may as well mark you with a 666 because that's what it is.

If that isnt enough, no one needs to know my movements. Why do they want to know? I am already on a camera 250 times a day from all over and that is privacy invasion enough thank you. I work, I pay my taxes, I obey the laws, now leave me alone. I don't need some jackoff seeing how many times I go to the restroom, or asking me why I stood in front of a building for X amount of minutes or worse yet, knowing my medical wellbeing or, god forbid, be able to terminate me via remote control.

CHIP IMPLANST LINKED TO ANIMAL TUMORS

When the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved implanting
microchips in humans, the manufacturer said it would save lives,
letting doctors scan the tiny transponders to access patients' medical records almost instantly. The FDA found "reasonable assurance" the device was safe, and a sub-agency even called it one of 2005's top "innovative technologies."

But neither the company nor the regulators publicly mentioned this: A
series of veterinary and toxicology studies, dating to the mid-1990s,
stated that chip implants had "induced" malignant tumors in some lab
mice and rats.

"The transponders were the cause of the tumors," said Keith Johnson, a
retired toxicologic pathologist, explaining in a phone interview the
findings of a 1996 study he led at the Dow Chemical Co. in Midland,
Mich.

Leading cancer specialists reviewed the research for The Associated
Press and, while cautioning that animal test results do not necessarily
apply to humans, said the findings troubled them. Some said they would
not allow family members to receive implants, and all urged further
research before the glass-encased transponders are widely implanted in
people.

To date, about 2,000 of the so-called radio frequency identification,
or
RFID, devices have been implanted in humans worldwide, according to
VeriChip Corp. The company, which sees a target market of 45 million
Americans for its medical monitoring chips, insists the devices are
safe, as does its parent company, Applied Digital Solutions, of Delray
Beach, Fla.

"We stand by our implantable products which have been approved by the
FDA and/or other U.S. regulatory authorities," Scott Silverman,
VeriChip
Corp. chairman and chief executive officer, said in a written response
to AP questions.

The company was "not aware of any studies that have resulted in
malignant tumors in laboratory rats, mice and certainly not dogs or
cats," but he added that millions of domestic pets have been implanted
with microchips, without reports of significant problems.

"In fact, for more than 15 years we have used our encapsulated glass
transponders with FDA approved anti-migration caps and received no
complaints regarding malignant tumors caused by our product."

The FDA also stands by its approval of the technology.

Did the agency know of the tumor findings before approving the chip
implants? The FDA declined repeated AP requests to specify what studies
it reviewed.

The FDA is overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services,
which, at the time of VeriChip's approval, was headed by Tommy
Thompson.
Two weeks after the device's approval took effect on Jan. 10, 2005,
Thompson left his Cabinet post, and within five months was a board
member of VeriChip Corp. and Applied Digital Solutions. He was
compensated in cash and stock options.

Thompson, until recently a candidate for the 2008 Republican
presidential nomination, says he had no personal relationship with the
company as the VeriChip was being evaluated, nor did he play any role
in
FDA's approval process of the RFID tag.

"I didn't even know VeriChip before I stepped down from the Department
of Health and Human Services," he said in a telephone interview.

Also making no mention of the findings on animal tumors was a June
report by the ethics committee of the American Medical Association,
which touted the benefits of implantable RFID devices.

Had committee members reviewed the literature on cancer in chipped
animals?

No, said Dr. Steven Stack, an AMA board member with knowledge of the
committee's review.

Was the AMA aware of the studies?

No, he said.

Published in veterinary and toxicology journals between 1996 and 2006,
the studies found that lab mice and rats injected with microchips
sometimes developed subcutaneous "sarcomas" , malignant tumors, most of
them encasing the implants.

, A 1998 study in Ridgefield, Conn., of 177 mice reported cancer
incidence to be slightly higher than 10 percent , a result the
researchers described as "surprising."

, A 2006 study in France detected tumors in 4.1 percent of 1,260
microchipped mice. This was one of six studies in which the scientists
did not set out to find microchip-induced cancer but noticed the
growths
incidentally. They were testing compounds on behalf of chemical and
pharmaceutical companies; but they ruled out the compounds as the
tumors' cause. Because researchers only noted the most obvious tumors,
the French study said, "These incidences may therefore slightly
underestimate the true occurrence" of cancer.

, In 1997, a study in Germany found cancers in 1 percent of 4,279
chipped mice. The tumors "are clearly due to the implanted microchips,"
the authors wrote.

Caveats accompanied the findings. "Blind leaps from the detection of
tumors to the prediction of human health risk should be avoided," one
study cautioned. Also, because none of the studies had a control group
of animals that did not get chips, the normal rate of tumors cannot be
determined and compared to the rate with chips implanted.

Still, after reviewing the research, specialists at some pre-eminent
cancer institutions said the findings raised red flags.

"There's no way in the world, having read this information, that I
would
have one of those chips implanted in my skin, or in one of my family
members," said Dr. Robert Benezra, head of the Cancer Biology Genetics
Program at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Before microchips are implanted on a large scale in humans, he said,
testing should be done on larger animals, such as dogs or monkeys. "I
mean, these are bad diseases. They are life-threatening. And given the
preliminary animal data, it looks to me that there's definitely cause
for concern."

Dr. George Demetri, director of the Center for Sarcoma and Bone
Oncology
at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, agreed. Even though the
tumor incidences were "reasonably small," in his view, the research
underscored "certainly real risks" in RFID implants.

In humans, sarcomas, which strike connective tissues, can range from
the
highly curable to "tumors that are incredibly aggressive and can kill
people in three to six months," he said.

At the Jackson Laboratory in Maine, a leader in mouse genetics research
and the initiation of cancer, Dr. Oded Foreman, a forensic pathologist,
also reviewed the studies at the AP's request.

At first he was skeptical, suggesting that chemicals administered in
some of the studies could have caused the cancers and skewed the
results. But he took a different view after seeing that control mice,
which received no chemicals, also developed the cancers. "That might be
a little hint that something real is happening here," he said. He, too,
recommended further study, using mice, dogs or non-human primates.

Dr. Cheryl London, a veterinarian oncologist at Ohio State University,
noted: "It's much easier to cause cancer in mice than it is in people.
So it may be that what you're seeing in mice represents an exaggerated
phenomenon of what may occur in people."

Tens of thousands of dogs have been chipped, she said, and veterinary
pathologists haven't reported outbreaks of related sarcomas in the area
of the neck, where canine implants are often done. (Published reports
detailing malignant tumors in two chipped dogs turned up in AP's
four-month examination of research on chips and health. In one dog, the
researchers said cancer appeared linked to the presence of the embedded
chip; in the other, the cancer's cause was uncertain.)

Nonetheless, London saw a need for a 20-year study of chipped canines
"to see if you have a biological effect." Dr. Chand Khanna, a
veterinary
oncologist at the National Cancer Institute, also backed such a study,
saying current evidence "does suggest some reason to be concerned about
tumor formations."

Meanwhile, the animal study findings should be disclosed to anyone
considering a chip implant, the cancer specialists agreed.

To date, however, that hasn't happened.

The product that VeriChip Corp. won approval for use in humans is an
electronic capsule the size of two grains of rice. Generally, it is
implanted with a syringe into an anesthetized portion of the upper arm.

When prompted by an electromagnetic scanner, the chip transmits a
unique
code. With the code, hospital staff can go on the Internet and access a
patient's medical profile that is maintained in a database by VeriChip
Corp. for an annual fee.

VeriChip Corp., whose parent company has been marketing radio tags for
animals for more than a decade, sees an initial market of diabetics and
people with heart conditions or Alzheimer's disease, according to a
Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The company is spending millions to assemble a national network of
hospitals equipped to scan chipped patients.

But in its SEC filings, product labels and press releases, VeriChip
Corp. has not mentioned the existence of research linking embedded
transponders to tumors in test animals.

When the FDA approved the device, it noted some Verichip risks: The
capsules could migrate around the body, making them difficult to
extract; they might interfere with defibrillators, or be incompatible
with MRI scans, causing burns. While also warning that the chips could
cause "adverse tissue reaction," FDA made no reference to malignant
growths in animal studies.

Did the agency review literature on microchip implants and animal
cancer?

Dr. Katherine Albrecht, a privacy advocate and RFID expert, asked
shortly after VeriChip's approval what evidence the agency had
reviewed.
When FDA declined to provide information, she filed a Freedom of
Information Act request. More than a year later, she received a letter
stating there were no documents matching her request.

"The public relies on the FDA to evaluate all the data and make sure
the
devices it approves are safe," she says, "but if they're not doing
that,
who's covering our backs?"

Late last year, Albrecht unearthed at the Harvard medical library three
studies noting cancerous tumors in some chipped mice and rats, plus a
reference in another study to a chipped dog with a tumor. She forwarded
them to the AP, which subsequently found three additional mice studies
with similar findings, plus another report of a chipped dog with a
tumor.

Asked if it had taken these studies into account, the FDA said VeriChip
documents were being kept confidential to protect trade secrets. After
AP filed a FOIA request, the FDA made available for a phone interview
Anthony Watson, who was in charge of the VeriChip approval process.

"At the time we reviewed this, I don't remember seeing anything like
that," he said of animal studies linking microchips to cancer. A
literature search "didn't turn up anything that would be of concern."

In general, Watson said, companies are expected to provide
safety-and-effectiveness data during the approval process, "even if
it's
adverse information."

Watson added: "The few articles from the literature that did discuss
adverse tissue reactions similar to those in the articles you provided,
describe the responses as foreign body reactions that are typical of
other implantable devices. The balance of the data provided in the
submission supported approval of the device."

Another implantable device could be a pacemaker, and indeed, tumors
have
in some cases attached to foreign bodies inside humans. But Dr. Neil
Lipman, director of the Research Animal Resource Center at Memorial
Sloan-Kettering, said it's not the same. The microchip isn't like a
pacemaker that's vital to keeping someone alive, he added, "so at this
stage, the payoff doesn't justify the risks."

Silverman, VeriChip Corp.'s chief executive, disagreed. "Each month pet
microchips reunite over 8,000 dogs and cats with their owners," he
said.
"We believe the VeriMed Patient Identification System will provide
similar positive benefits for at-risk patients who are unable to
communicate for themselves in an emergency."

And what of former HHS secretary Thompson?

When asked what role, if any, he played in VeriChip's approval,
Thompson
replied: "I had nothing to do with it. And if you look back at my
record, you will find that there has never been any improprieties
whatsoever."

FDA's Watson said: "I have no recollection of him being involved in it
at all." VeriChip Corp. declined comment.

Thompson vigorously campaigned for electronic medical records and
healthcare technology both as governor of Wisconsin and at HHS. While
in
President Bush's Cabinet, he formed a "medical innovation" task force
that worked to partner FDA with companies developing medical
information
technologies.

At a "Medical Innovation Summit" on Oct. 20, 2004, Lester Crawford, the
FDA's acting commissioner, thanked the secretary for getting the agency
"deeply involved in the use of new information technology to help
prevent medication error." One notable example he cited: "the
implantable chips and scanners of the VeriChip system our agency
approved last week."

After leaving the Cabinet and joining the company board, Thompson
received options on 166,667 shares of VeriChip Corp. stock, and options
on an additional 100,000 shares of stock from its parent company,
Applied Digital Solutions, according to SEC records. He also received
$40,000 in cash in 2005 and again in 2006, the filings show.

The Project on Government Oversight called Thompson's actions
"unacceptable" even though they did not violate what the independent
watchdog group calls weak conflict-of-interest laws.

"A decade ago, people would be embarrassed to cash in on their
government connections. But now it's like the Wild West," said the
group's executive director, Danielle Brian.

Thompson is a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, a
Washington law firm that was paid $1.2 million for legal services it
provided the chip maker in 2005 and 2006, according to SEC filings.

He stepped down as a VeriChip Corp. director in March to seek the GOP
presidential nomination, and records show that the company gave his
campaign $7,400 before he bowed out of the race in August.

In a TV interview while still on the board, Thompson was explaining the
benefits , and the ease , of being chipped when an interviewer
interrupted:

"I'm sorry, sir. Did you just say you would get one implanted in your
arm?"

"Absolutely," Thompson replied. "Without a doubt."

"No concerns at all?"

"No."

But to date, Thompson has yet to be chipped himself.

RADIO FREQUENCY ENERGY SHOWN TO HARM DNA

Researchers in Europe have confirmed that the electromagnetic radiation (known as EMF energy) emitted by cell phones and RFID readers causes damage to human DNA. The four-year "REFLEX" study, funded by the European Union, found that cells exposed to EMF showed "a significant increase in single and double-strand DNA breaks."

"There was remaining damage for future generation of cells," said project leader Franz Adlkofer, meaning the change was passed along. Mutated cells are seen as a possible cause of cancer. "We don't want to create a panic, but it is good to take precautions," he added, advising people to use a land line rather than a cell phone when possible.

While people can choose not to use cell phones, it may be harder to avoid RFID readers. As CASPIAN has repeated pointed out, the RFID industry envisions such readers in floors, doorways, walls, shelving, ceilings, and even in the medicine cabinets and refrigerators of our own homes.

Already, RFID readers used in the supply chain at Wal-Mart stores in Dallas/Fort Worth bombard employees with ultra high frequency EMF radiation, and retailers have hidden RFID readers in store shelves that emit similar energy.

CONCORD, NH: The NEW HAMPSHIRE RFID STUDY COMMISSION yesterday voted in support of language that would allow guardians and parents to implant RFID microchips into children. The Study Commission was created when the state Senate killed a bill which would have required labeling on all products containing RFID-tagged products in NH and is comprised of lawmakers, industry and retail representatives, as well as members of the public and state law enforcement officials.

Dr. Katherine Albrecht, who will be speaking on RFID at the Hope for America Conference in Tempe, AZ on December 8th [conference site- http://www.rtrlive.com], was appointed to the Commission by the governor of NH to represent consumer interests. This group meets once per month and one of its tasks is to provide recommendations to the state legislature including recommendations on possible legislation.

In the Oct 17th meeting in Concord, NH several aspects of proposed legislation were debated and several important votes were taken.

In this marathon meeting spanning three and a half hour long meeting the commission voted to remove specific language in proposed legislation submitted by Rep. Neal Kurk, which was designed to raise the bar on the microchipping of humans. In a 9-5 vote, the committee voted to strike down language requiring that anyone receiving a human implant must be at least eighteen years of age and eliminated language that would have required an individual’s own personal consent to receive a microchip in their body.

The original text of Rep. Kurk’s legislation read, “Consent of a guardian, guardian ad litem, attorney-in-fact, parent or other agent shall not be considered adequate consent.”

The new language proposed by industry representative Richard Varn removed the words “shall not” and replaced them with “shall”.

In addition the Commission struck out an entire provision which would have prohibited the microchipping of corpses. There was a discussion about the fact that many people have religious objections to receiving a microchip post-mortem and see it as a desecration of their body.

The committee considered allowing a provision which would have allowed an opt-out policy wherein all corpses would be potentially subject to chipping unless the individual had opted out while alive through some applicable directive.

Once realizing that they had the majority on that point, they moved to completely strike the language prohibiting corpse chipping altogether. This was discussed after people expressed dismay that their deceased relatives had been chipped as part of the cleanup of hurricane Katrina.

“These votes were not surprising considering the makeup of the commission,” said Dr. Katherine Albrecht. “Those with Pro-RFID views are disproportionately represented on the Commission. We should clarify that this is really just an advisory body, and while we will be making recommendations we’re not responsible for enacting public policy. Although it seems obvious that the deck is stacked on the Commission in favor of industry, there is still a chance to get the type of bill that we want once this goes out to our legislature.”
