Many Christians believe that the tribulation is a future period of time that will be marked by unprecedented evil and persecution (Daniel 12:1). They contend that the antichrist, Satan's chosen world leader, will brutally torture God's people during this period (Revelation 13). In turn, God will unleash his wrath upon the antichrist and his followers during this period (Revelation 8:2-9:21). The tribulation will culminate in the battle of Armageddon, in which Christ will defeat the antichrist and his forces, a victory which will set the stage for Jesus' kingdom.
Some Christians don't believe that the tribulation described in the book of Revelation refers to a specific time period. Instead, they see the tribulation as a symbolic term for the constant conflict between good and evil that has existed throughout history. These Christians don't believe the evil and persecution will increase in the last days. Rather, they believe that the church of Christ will gradually convert the world and usher in Jesus' kingdom.[I don't believe that! TG]
Those who view the tribulation as a specific period of time generally agree that it will last seven years - from the rapture of the church - to the Second Coming of Christ. Some Christians go so far as to divide the tribulation into specific sections. They base these divisions on the prophetic writings of Daniel 9:24-27.
The first half of the tribulation - the first three-and-a-half years - will see the seven seal judgments (Revelation 6), the seven trumpet judgments (Revelation 8-9), the ministry of the two witnesses (Revelation 11:3-6) and the rise of the antichrist and his forces (Revelation 12:3, 13:1 and 17:12). The middle of the tribulation will be marked by the death and resurrection of the two witnesses (Revelation 11:7-13), the persecution of the Jewish nation (Revelation 12:1-6), the death and resurrection of the antichrist (Revelation 13:3-4) and the antichrist's defilement of the temple (Daniel 9:27, 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, Matthew 24:15). The last part of the tribulation will include the seven bowl judgments, the battle of Armageddon (Revelation 19:11-21) and the conversion of Israel (Romans 11:25-27).
The physical battle for land and the world's resources, World War III is already raging. But a more important covert spiritual battle is being fought for the hearts and minds of Western people to get them to support undefined foreign wars. The fact that a World War has begun is being kept from the Western public and much of the military too.* This is the first World War in which Britain and its allies, the US and Israel, has been the illegal originator, the aggressor. The so-called 'War On Terror' is supposed to have been founded on retribution for the attacks of September 11th 2001. Like Orwell's vision in 1984 it is due to go on indefinitely until everyone who opposes with force government corruption and privatised military forces is either killed or incarcerated by witting or unwitting agents of the New World Order, an invisible occult world government acting behind the scenes.
Like the 7th July 2005 'terror' attacks on London no properly conducted enquiry has taken place into 9/11. In this climate of official lies God fearing Christians, Muslims and Jews are standing together across the world to expose the official lies and spin and to fearlessly stand up for the truth. We have reached a situation where none of the government's official security systems can be relied upon. Police, Military Intelligence, Home office, Ministers and cabinet are all made up of such weak-minded people that large parts of these institutions can no longer be trusted by the people whose taxes pay for them.
Two evil, totalitarian, criminal regimes are Britain's closes allies: The USA and Israel are both hell bent on regional and global domination their strategy is as much unending death as they can get away with, ie still turn in a good profit. If occultic, ultimately a satanic network I suggest.
Dennis Wheatley, writing under the shadow of the Nazi Blitz of London in 1941, identified a New World Order which George Bush Senior and Junior, and Both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown appear to have 'rediscovered'. It is an expression originating with the Adolf Hitler and The Nazi party.
Spoken by Wheatley's protagonist Monseigneur le Duc de Richleau, Knight of the Most Exalted Order of the Golden Fleece. The Duc is addressing his friends Simon Aron, Marie Lou, Rex Van Ryn and Richard Eaton who he's just helped rescue from a Nazi-Voodoo priest who has been remote viewing Britain's vital Atlantic convoy routes:

As he ceased speaking they knew that although it would be many days before their burns, weals and wounds were healed there had come into their hearts a little glow of warmth. The Battle was still far from being over, but they had done the thing which they had set out to do. Their Victory was an episode no more-in the Titanic struggle that was in progress, but the flame which animated their spirits was burning an the brighter for it, and they were returning to fight on for the England that they loved.

But the concept of the destruction of democracy and the rights of ordinary people world domination, has been developing for centuries. The western capitalist world has taken people's rights away gradually over the last 2000 years. With the arrival of the Romans money was introduced and after the Norman invasion in 1066, beginning with the Doomsday Book and leading on the the English Civil war the land has been slowly stolen from under our feet. These were the first and two most important instruments of privatisation. The overall plan being to take away all private property rights for most people but to allow the obedient NWO servants access to land and money. The NWO through their previous incarnations the Knights Templar created enclosure acts which removed the poor from the land, forcing them to work in the industrial revolution factories and created the first mass urbanisation in the world. The towns and cities in Britain, characterised by William Blakes' Dark Satanic Mills, became little more than 'people farms' where pre-Victorian workers were treated like slaves.
An invisible government that controls North America and Europe would be a force to be reckoned with and it is in these countries that freemasonry is strongest. All God-fearing people need to understand just how dangerous a 'society with secrets' in their own words could be in the world today. When he came to power Adolf Hitler outlawed Germany's Masonic lodges. This move was not because he was against these occult practices, quite the contrary since through Theosophy and the Thule Society he had been involved himself. Hitler understood that it represented a powerful clandestine network that was a counter to his own supremacy. And so it is today, a counterbalance to democracy.
That invisible government does exist and is centred around ex US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and his private military company Kissinger Associates. Is Kissinger Associates the Western World's global protection racket? The public, secretive face of this Western Totalitarian and financial network is called Bilderberg and it is organised by at least one trusted freemasonic servant of the elite in North America and Western Europe. Andrew Palmer. Bilderberg was created by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands and the first meeting in 1954 took place in his own Hotel de Bilderberg in Oosterbeek in Holland. In the run up to World War II Bernhard had willingly taken the SS life-long vow of allegiance to Adolf Hitler required by those who wanted to join the SS.
Freemasons actively recruit members from various walks of life, but these professions such as the police, judiciary, media, solicitors, senior civil servants, big business all have either or both of two things in common: money and power. They represent a spiritual gangster network and their religious philosophy of Deism is not compatible with the Gospels, Torah or the Koran. Deism means simply 'God minus the Bible'. In the lodge a form of 'mysticism' is taught, all masons have to believe in a supreme being and an afterlife to join. God is mentioned many times in the lodge but the underlying teachings of Jesus Christ - or of Moses and Mohammed are brushed over. A mason's loyalty is not to his community or to Jesus etc. but to his fellow masons and to his lodge. Family, wife and children, take a back seat in the heart of the mason who progresses up through 'degrees' as a form of promotion in 'the craft'. Oaths of loyalty to the organisation sworn and to the 'master' make freemasonry a religious cult, though they officially deny this. Ultimately in the world of the freemason mysticism can be interpreted to 'profane' outsiders as 'any rubbish that sounds good', and whatever the Grand Master of World freemasonry says, goes. In other words he 'is god'.
It's interesting that the freemasons' own nickname for their cult is 'the craft' this is also traditionally used by witches to euphemistically refer to witchcraft. If only the similarity ended there unfortunately it doesn't. Freemasonry not only mimics the organisational structure of witchcraft as revealed by ex-witches it, along with the mafia and oriental triads also uses the same initiation ceremony. Initiation is a characteristic feature of cults and these usually involve one form or another of ritual death.
Masonic lodges tend to meet formally only every three months or so and begin with only the highest degree masons present. As the lodge business progresses the lodge is 'opened' to masons of lower and lower degrees until all members of the lodge are present after which the lodge is closed and all members retire for toasts and a meal, often singing of songs too. What is known as the 'festive board'.
The witchcraft coven is traditionally made up of thirteen members, mimicing the number of Christ's apostles, Indeed mimicry of Christian teaching is what characterises many occult practices including the use of consecrated ground for rituals. Witchcraft can be broadly divided into two. In white witchcraft only the good of self and others can be pursued, a fine moral code, but it is unclear whether or not black magicians, who are allowed to use magic to persue selfish ends, are clandestine members of white witchcraft covens. It certainly seems that black magic is at the core of witchcraft and white magic a more socially acceptable 'outer portico' from which black witches can be recruited.
Most who have had experience of Witchcraft then emerged as Christians agree on some basic facts about the organisational structure of these occult organisations.
Firstly there is the 'neophyte' phase. Where someone new to 'the craft' is invited by an individual to join at 'arm's length'. Only one proper witch will be known to the neophyte and various tests will be performed on the neophyte by the witch with the witch reporting back to his or her coven who then discuss the suitability or otherwise of the neophyte to be initiated further.
This neophyte status in witchcraft is identical to that of the 'presbetery' degree in 'Illuminated' masonry, and much like the first three degrees of Freemasonry (craft, fellowcraft and master mason) where one can appear to progress in a limited fashion up the masonic ladder but can, in reality, never get to become a full mason. What these masons do not realise is that they are excluded from the central business of the craft until they have reached the third degree or higher.
Wicca is supposed to be the modern manifestation of Teutonic and Anglo-Saxon magic. Nevertheless with modern druidic, wicca and similar orders the history and real traditions have been sanitised and remanufactured during the 20th Century to make them less distasteful to impressionable modern people disillusioned with mainstream religion.
White witchcraft or the 'right-hand path' is the practice of magic for positive loving ends and author Dennis Wheatley was broadly sympathetic to white magic's aims as one can see in his novel 'Strange Conflict'. But many believe white magic to be an outer portico, a recruiting ground for black magicians. White magicians eventually learn that all the really powerful 'spells' will only work for a black magician indicating, as the Bible explains, that the power of all magic is demonic, white magic being used by demonic forces simply to seduce human souls.
Many followers of the devil are mentally ill, they are in denial and believe their god is still called lucifer. Get active. The Christian has a duty to shine the light of love on satanic ceremonies. Pagan rites are loosely based on the four ancient Egyptian mystery-religion quarter days, that is the summer and winter solstices and spring and autumn equinoxes. Dates which sometimes vary from year to year are June 21st and December 22nd for the solstices and March 21st and September 23rd for the equinoxes.
The satanic esbat is the weekly ritual gathering whereas satanic sabbats take place at midnight on every full moon. In addition grand sabbats take place four times a year on nights following February 2nd (Candlemas), April 30th (Walpurgisnacht), August 1st (Lammas) and October 31st (Halloween).
The witches sabbath occurs only once in seven years and the other meetings are merely 'covens'. At the sabbaths the black mass is performed which is a reversal and perversion of the catholic mass. The black mass is performed between 11pm and midnight with the subsequent drugged, drunken and debauched revellings continuing until dawn
The culmination of the black mass is the murderous 'sacrifice' of a young child. Children, both dead and living, who are being secretly brought up in the 'left-hand path' spectators at these ritualistic orgies.
As has been foretold in Holy Scripture Jesus Christ, Yeshuah, the Messiah's Church, his living body, will be the most steadfast entity to stand against the violence and schemes of that old dragon the devil called satan who will send false prophets and mean-spirited illusionists to blind the people. This is already happening through carefully crafted TV documentaries aimed at undermining faith. Those for instance which assume Darwin's theory of Evolution has been proven beyond any doubt.
The present world system, led mostly by English speaking Western NATO nations, is occupied by a clandestine web of secularists, atheists and occultists. People in political power who are ostensibly Christians or Jews are essential to deflect criticism by the church and they often hold high rank whilst secretly holding both Old and New Testament in contempt.
The two main bonds of slavery which the occultists have over the years used to enslave us are land and money. Once land was stolen from under out feet using the lie of 'agricultural improvement' or enclosure all evicted people became dependent on money for food and shelter, ie. to survive. People have somehow been convinced that there is 'not enough land to go round' when the earth is a free gift to mankind and Britain's population of 60 million have about 60 million acres in total on which to live, roughly an acre each. Once the right to somewhere to live had been stripped from us the subsequent manipulation of the money system by private goldsmiths and bankers for private profit, including the modern manifestations of the world bank IMF etc. has led most of the world's population to a situation of economic slavery. Money has become not a convenient means of exchange but a means of control and ownership by which the world's resources are slowly being stolen from ordinary people, and individuals in general, and owned by faceless corporations run by accountants which, whilst classed in company law as having the rights of a person, are immune in law for suffering resulting from corporate decisions.
All this has led to a climate whereby the possibility exists for emancipation under Jesus Christ as king. Fakers are occupying many of the key positions in the various churches. They follow the trends in the Guardian Society pages rather than the example of Jesus. Allowing enormous changes in the Church such as homosexual vicars and women priests etc, is not the way Christ taught us. When Christ picked his disciples he chose only men. We should follow his example rather than give in to worldly calls for 'equality'.

Very recently the world witnessed the ugly and inhumane act of burning the Holy Quran.
The Holy Quran is the Divine Book and the eternal miracle of the Prophet of lslam.
It calls for worshipping the One God, justice, compassion toward people, development and progress, reflection and thinking, defending the oppressed and resisting against the oppressors; and it names with respect the previous Messengers of God, like Noah, Abraham, Isaaq, Joseph, Moses and Jesus Christ (Peace be Upon them all) and endorses them..
They burned Quran to burn all these truths and good judgments. However, the truth could not be burned. Quran is eternal because God and truth are everlasting. This act and any other act which widens the gap and distances between nations is evil. We should wisely avoid playing into the hands of Satan. On behalf of the Iranian nation I pay respect to all Divine Books and their followers.
This is the Quran and this is the Bible. I pay respect to both of them.

Whether or not you believe apostle and gospel author John's roller-coaster Revelation is God-inspired you can be sure of one thing: fanatical Christian Right, war-hungry leaders & other fakers are looking at it closely, so that they can compare their own plans and reinterpret the shocking events of Revelation. In the first century, the apostle John's day, the noise of galloping horses' hooves hitting the ground inspired fear. It was the ominous sound of an enemy's approach. So when John described four horsemen who would begin the process of unleashing judgement (tribulation) on the earth, the familiar but awful sound of approaching horses would have been ringing in his readers' ears. In Revelation 6, John describes them. The first rides a dazzling white horse; the second, a fiery red horse; the third, a black horse; and the fourth, a deathly pale horse. Each one has a mission related to the Passover lamb's (Jesus') breaking of the first four seals of judgement up in heaven.
During the Tribulation two pairs of opposing human figures are set to feature prominently in world affairs. The antichrist (eg. Revelation 11:7 and 13:3) and false prophet (Revelation 16:13; 19:19-20; 20:10), satan's political and spiritual world puppets. Opposing them will be the two witnesses of God (Revelation 11:3).

There are lots of problems with the present day 'Church'. Professional paid preachers are not biblical, membership of occult groups such as the freemasons is widespread amongst Church of England and other establishment clergy. [see 'Freemasonry' by John Lawrence, Gazelle books, 1999] Churches have invested in weapons companies, talked down to the congregation, they used bad translations of the Bible, miss out important Books and Chapters of The Bible.... The Church is described by many as a building not as God's people. For these and many other reasons I seek out genuine participatory gatherings for fellowship.

Jesus was a sensitive and genuinely popular teacher, as well as the long-prophesied son of God. How strange then that 'Christians' today are often portrayed by the mainstream media to seem intolerant and even dictatorial. Genuine Christians are often labeled 'fundamentalist'. Does that mean that because they study the Bible themselves, as opposed to having it spoon fed to them in 'church', they are somehow less trustworthy? In reality Christians tend to fall into two categories: those such as 'crusading' killers, masonic clergy, moneygrubbing charismatic 'evangelists' who use Christ's name as a cloak of legitimacy; and the genuine, quiet and simple followers of Jesus and his teachings.
The books of Daniel and Revelation are the natural starting point for many End Times scholars and researchers. Or Old Testament Prophets Ezekiel 7, Jeremiah 25, Daniel 10 and Zephaniah 1 to be a bit more specific. Revelation fleshes out Daniel's visions and describes God's final harvest or 'threshing' of mankind vividly.

Not enough Nazarene Christians understand the significance of the passover - of being covered spiritually in the blood of the lamb of God. God asked the Jews in Egypt to set themselvses apart from the pagan Egyptians by marking the lintels of their doors with the blood of a sacrificed lamb.
The modern midrashic equivalent of this is to be spiritually prepared by being covered in Jesus' blood. As Barry Smith (see below) said before he died, there are three ways to be prepared for the evil to come.

One thing I found out on a visit to Brussels a couple of years ago amazed me somewhat. You're no doubt aware that the woman riding the beast is a symbol of the end-times empire described in Revelations. Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the European Commision to see a statue of a woman riding a beast overlooking the plaza at the entrance. Apparently this is Europa - from the greek myth of the same name and an official symbol of the EU.
One more thing, the beast carries ten horns - horns denote power - and upon the horns crowns - crowns denote kingdoms. Little known, but true, is this - The EU has a military arm called the WEU which is sheduled for ursurping NATO's role in the coming years as a global police force. Guess how many member states there are - that's right - 10 - check out their flag at http://www.weu.int - The WEU is comprised of this permanent ten member core and no additions are to be made to this core - instead it has numerous non-permanent members. If they do become a global military power then we are certainly in end-times territory in a big way!
Is satan a servant of God?
A wicked world leader who exalts himself as Jesus' adversary, brings about the tribulation, and is defeated at Armageddon. The antichrist is also identified in Scripture as 'the beast' (Revelation 13:1-18; 19:19-20), 'the man of sin,' 'lawless one' or 'man of destruction' (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, 9-10) and 'a little horn' (Daniel 7:8-27). Only John's letters use the term 'antichrist' (1 John 2:18,22; 4:3; 2 John 1:7).
Also known as the 'second beast' he seduces the world into worshipping the antichrist (Revelation 13:11-17). The false prophet performs astonishing miracles, which include causing idols to speak (Revelation 13:11-15). He attempts to force people to worship the beast by allowing only those who have the 'mark of the beast' to buy and sell.
Sent by God to proclaim the Good News to non-believers (Zechariah 4:12-14; Revelation 11:3-4), the two witnesses have miraculous powers, similar to Moses and Elijah (Revelation 11:5-6). At the end of 1,260 days, they are killed off by the antichrist, who desecrates their dead bodies by leaving them to rot in the city of Jerusalem (Revelation 11:3-10). Three days after their deaths the witnesses are raised to heaven. As a result of this miracle many people believe in God (Revelation 11:11-13).
Day in and day out we live our lives as if there will be a tomorrow... another day to do our chores and pursue our dreams. But The Bible says that one day this world will come to an end. We will no longer live out our lives as we had before. No one knows the day or hour when the world will end (Mark 13:32) instead he simply warns us, "Be on your guard" (Mark 13:23)
Many of the signs predicted in scripture involve 'Israel'. Passages like Isaiah 11:11-12:6; Ezekiel 20:33-44; and Zephaniah 2:1-3 deal with the regathering of Isreal. People who are most concerned about staying abreast of the 'signs of the times' always keep a watchful eye on the Middle East and Temple Mount in particular.
The Bible tells us in some detail what signs will indicate that the end is drawing near. The increase in warfare, tyranny and the rise of false prophets are only some of these signs.

The word 'Tribulation' comes from the Latin word 'tribulum' meaning a 'threshing board' used at harvest-time.

Have you ever dreamt what living with God in eternity would be like? Fluffy Clouds? Golden Halos? Streets of Gold? What will it be like to enjoy God's presence? In other words, what will heaven be like? The apostle John caught a glimpse of heaven in a breathtaking vision of New Jerusalem. This was part of the book of Revelation, when Christ brought a vision to him at the end of the first century on the Greek island of Patmos, when John was an old man.

Flavius Josephus is regarded as the premier first century Jewish historian. His writings have been quoted by hundreds of authors, including many of the world's most respected scholars. Josephus came from a priestly family and became a Pharisee at the age of 19. He was appointed Commander of the Jewish army under Roman occupation. After the rebellion by the Jews, Josephus was captured by the Roman general Vespasian. During this time, Josephus became a great historian.
Although Josephus lived after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, he was closely associated with the experiences of that generation. In his book, Antiquities of the Jews, Josephus makes a statement that is contested by those who reject the existence of a historical Jesus. Here, Josephus writes:
Now, there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful works -- a teacher of such men as received the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews, and many of the Gentiles. He was [the] Christ; and when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross, those that loved him at the first did not forsake him, for he appeared to them alive again the third day, as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him; and the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day. (Book 18, ch. 3)
This statement by Josephus has been the center of considerable debate and controversy. Those who reject its authenticity contend that these words were not written by Josephus but rather were added by the Christian church in an attempt to strengthen its argument that Jesus was real and that He was the Christ.
There is, however, a credible authority which can shed considerable light on this issue. William Whiston is a scholar who translated the works of Josephus into English. Whiston provides the following observation concerning the authenticity of Josephus' words regarding Jesus.
Since we meet with several important testimonies in Josephus, the Jewish historian, concerning John the Baptist, the forerunner of Jesus of Nazareth, concerning Jesus of Nazareth himself, and concerning James the Just the brother of Jesus of Nazareth; and since the principal testimony which is concerning Jesus of Nazareth himself has of late been greatly questioned by many, and for me who has ever declared my firm belief that these testimonies were genuine, to set down fairly some of the original evidence and citations I have met with in the first fifteen centuries concerning them; and then to make proper observations upon that evidence, for the reader's more complete satisfaction. (The Works of Flavius Josephus, Appendix p. 815)
Whiston went on to explain that after exhaustive examination of Josephus' writings, he concluded that the texts being questioned were, in fact, genuine. He drew this conclusion because their style was consistent with that found in Josephus' other writings.
Whiston also provided a list of highly respected historians who quoted the writings of Josephus and considered them authentic regarding John the Baptist, James, and Jesus Christ. These authors included Tacitus in 110, Justin Martyr in 147, Origin in 230, Eusebius in 324, Ambrose in 360, Hieronym in 400, Isidorus in 410, Cassiddorus in 510, Anastasius in 740, and Johan in 850.
Whiston further pointed out that it would be impossible to have such a volume of honorable and accurate testimony regarding John the Baptist and James, whose lives were predicated on the life of Jesus, and then refuse to accept same testimony regarding Jesus who was of greater importance than the other two. (p. 819)
Those who contend that Josephus' reference to Jesus is spurious do so because the words appear to convey that Josephus embraced Jesus as the Christ. However, William Whiston explains that such a conclusion is a mistake.
'This was Christ', or [the] Christ, does not mean that this Jesus was the Christ of God, or the true Messiah of the Jews; but that this Jesus was distinguished from all others of that name, of which there were not a few, as mentioned by Josephus himself, by the addition of the other name of Christ; or that this person was no other than he whom all the world knew by the name of Jesus Christ, and his followers by the name of Christians. (The Works of the Jews, Appendix 819)
Whiston went on to explain that Josephus was not conveying his belief in Christ but rather that Christians were named from "this Christ." According to Whiston, if Josephus was a true believer, this passage would have required a much fuller explanation. Additionally, it is important to understand that Josephus wrote for both the Greeks and Romans and that this particular audience would not have understood who he was referring to if he simply used the name "Jesus." Therefore, according to Whiston, Josephus used the term "Christ," not to convince others that Jesus was the Messiah, but only to differentiate Him from other historical figures with the same name. Whiston then added that all other historians who wrote for the next several centuries understood that Josephus was not a believer.
Josephus' approach was similar to that of Pontius Pilate during the time of Jesus' crucifixion. According to the scriptures, Pilate ordered a sign to be posted upon Jesus' cross. The sign bore the words: "This is Jesus, king of the Jews." The fact that Pilate ordered this sign did not mean he believed Jesus was the king of the Jews. He only placed it there because he was provoked by the Jewish leaders who brought charges against Jesus. These leaders wanted the sign to read that Jesus claimed to be king of the Jews. However, because of his exasperation with these Jewish leaders, Pilate refused to have these words changed (Jn. 19:19-22).
It is important to understand that there are other manuscripts concerning the works of Josephus. An Arabic manuscript has been found and translated which makes the controversial passages found in Josephus easier to understand. This Arabic translation reads as follows.
At this time, there was a wise man who was called Jesus. His conduct was good and (he) was known to be virtuous. And many people from among the Jews and other nations became his disciples. Pilate condemned him to be crucified and to die. But those who had become his disciples did not abandon his discipleship. They reported that he had appeared to them three days after his crucifixion, and that he was alive; accordingly he was perhaps the Messiah, concerning whom the prophets have recounted wonders.
Here, the translation adds clarity to the meaning of Josephus' words. Based on this translation, Josephus is simply recounting that Jesus was a good man and his followers taught that He was resurrected.
The works of Josephus are not the only Jewish writings that identify Jesus of Nazareth. The Babylonian Talmud includes a section in which Jesus is mentioned by the Jews to have been hanged from a stake on the eve of the Passover.
On the eve of the Passover Yeshu was hanged. For forty days before the execution took place, a herald went forth and cried, "He is going forth to be stoned because he has practiced sorcery and enticed Israel to apostasy. Any one who can say anything in his favor, let him come forward and plead on his behalf." But since nothing was brought forward in his favor, he was hanged on the eve of the Passover. (The Babylonian Talmud, vol. III, Sanhedrin, 43a, p. 281)
In addition to Tacitus, Suetonius, Phlegon, and Josephus, other prominent historical figures make mention of the biblical Jesus.
Thallus wrote about Mediterranean history during the middle of the first century. Although there are only fragments of his writings today, one such fragment relates what happened at the crucifixion.
On the whole world there pressed a most fearful darkness; and the rocks were rent by an earthquake, and many places in Judea and other districts were thrown down.
This description of events surrounding the crucifixion is totally consistent with the gospel record. Consider the words of Matthew.
Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour... And, behold, the veil of the Temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent... (Mt. 27:45, 51)
Pliny the younger was a Roman author who at one time served as governor of Bithynia in Asia Minor. He was concerned about the rapid growth of Christianity and its potential for threatening the beliefs of Rome. Because of this, he wrote the emperor to explain how he interrogated those he believed were Christians. Pliny related that if those he interrogated would not worship the emperor, he would have them executed. In some cases, he would torture them to gather information about the emerging Christian movement. In one such case, he tortured two deaconesses and wrote to the emperor concerning the information he had gathered.
They [the Christians] were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it was light, when they sang in alternate verses of a hymn to Christ, as to a god, and bound themselves by a solemn oath, not to any wicked deeds, but never to commit any fraud, theft or adultery, never to falsify their word, nor deny a trust when they should be called upon to deliver it up; after which it was their custom to separate, and then reassemble to partake of food - but food of an ordinary and innocent kind. (The Tenth Book of Pliny's Letters)
When Pliny referred to "food of an ordinary and innocent kind," he was addressing a rumor regarding Christianity. This rumor was that Christians took the symbols (bread and wine) Jesus introduced at the Passover as literal and would secretly meet on certain occasions and actually eat human flesh and drink human blood.
Justin Martyr was a second century philosopher and theologian. His parents were pagans; however, after a study of the Old and New Testaments, Justin Martyr converted to Christianity. He was executed during the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius because he refused to offer sacrifices to the pagan gods.
Justin Martyr wrote about 150 A.D. In one of his writings, he explained that the events of Christ's crucifixion could be validated by the report of Pontius Pilate.
And the expression, "they pierced my hands and my feet" was used in reference to the nails of the cross which were fixed in His hands and feet. And after he was crucified, they cast lots upon His vesture, and they that crucified Him parted it among them. And that these things did happen you can ascertain in the "Acts of Pontius Pilate." (First Apology XXXV)
Although the "Acts of Pontius Pilate" referred to by Justin Martyr is no longer in existence, it was also referred to by Tertullian. Both Tertullian and Justin Martyr believed that this was an official Roman document.
It is interesting to note that there were two archives kept in ancient Rome. One consisted of the minutes of senatorial meetings; the other consisted of correspondence sent to the emperor from various parts of the empire. Any correspondence from Pontius Pilate to Tiberius would unquestionably belong to this second archive.
In spite of the early secular world's hostility toward Christianity, there exist many historical documents to verify that the biblical Jesus actually lived. Further, these documents prove that his followers believed very exact details concerning His life and teachings as well as His crucifixion and resurrection. Few ancient historical figures can boast of the amount of material that Jesus of Nazareth had written about Him. In addition to the gospels, there is the book of Acts as well as numerous epistles. On top of all the Biblical evidence, sits a crown of numerous historical documents. These documents are totally consistent with the writings of the New Testament.
Whether it was the writings of Tacitus, Suetonius, Phlegon, Origin, Thallus, Justin Martyr, Josephus, or even Pontius Pilate, the existence of the Biblical Jesus is unimpeachable. Jesus of Nazareth did live and His life had a powerful impact on the course of history.

We live in the golden age of archaeology. The last 100 years have yielded more inscriptions and artifacts than the previous 6000 years of recorded history. Until recently, due to the paucity of extrabiblical evidence, skeptics often posited arguments from silence. In other words, if there is no physical proof, how can we know that it existed or happened? These arguments were perhaps best answered by William Dever, head of the Archaeology Department at the University of Arizona who succinctly responded, "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." We need no longer rely on Dever’s maxim. We now have, in the words of Josh McDowell, "evidence that demands a verdict" or to borrow a metaphor from criminal justice vernacular, we have a gospel "smoking gun." The inscription which has rocked the world this Christmas season reads as follows:
James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus (Ya 'Akov bar Yosef akhul diYeshua) The discovery of this seven word Aramaic inscription (without the punctuation marks), firmly dated to the mid-first century A.D., is a watershed moment in the study of the backgrounds of early Christianity. What the Dead Sea Scrolls were to the study of Second Temple Judaism, this inscription is for the study of the primitive Christian church. Hershel Shanks, the editor of Biblical Archaeology Review (BAR) whose bimonthly periodical announced this dramatic story on October 21, 2002, stated that, "The James ossuary (bone box) may be the most important find in the history of New Testament archaeology." Andre Lemaire, a specialist in ancient inscriptions, first identified the ossuary inscription after an invitation from its intentionally unidentified private owner. The owner acquired it fifteen years ago for a few hundred dollars from an antiquities dealer who claimed it was unearthed south of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem’s Silwan region, an area famous for its ancient tombs. Lemaire dates the inscription to 63 A.D., only 33 years after the crucifixion of Jesus! One can only wonder what ossuary would bring at auction now that the inscription is known..................

Following is a partial list of the Old Testament prophecies pertaining to Yeshua's first coming, along with the New Testament locations reporting their fulfillment by him.
Space does not permit showing why each of these prophecies should be understood as referring to Yeshua the Messiah. Many books discuss this subject in detail, mentioning other Old Testament prophecies which point to Yeshua. [See appendix IX of The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah, 2nd ed. (New York: Anson D. F. Randolph and Company, 1884), by the Messianic Jew Alfred Edersheim, in which a list of 456 Old Testament passages messianically applied in ancient rabbinic writings is supported by 558 quotations from those writings. Besides prophecies there are incidents in the Old Testament which function as pictures in advance, or "types", of Yeshua. What is known in Judaism as the "binding", the near-sacrifice of Isaac by Abraham, is explicitly called a type of Yeshua the Messiah at Hebrews 11:17-19. The life of Joseph provides another example: his brothers tried to kill him, but in the end he saved them from death, even though they did not recognise him at first. This does not mean that Genesis 22 contains a "prophecy" that Yeshua would be raised from the dead, or that Genesis 37-45 states that the Jewish people, as a nation, would initially reject their saviour. Rather it shows that God's salvation plan unfolding itself in history has a unity determined by him from the beginning to be consummated in Yeshua the Messiah. Indeed Yeshua himself explained it this way to two of his disciples at Luke 24:25-27.

*The Hebrew word 'almah' in Isaiah 7:14 means "young woman", and in the Old Testament always "a young woman of unsullied reputation", which is why the Jewish translators of the Septuagint, the Greek version of the Old Testament prepared 200 years before Yeshua's birth, rendered this word into Greek as 'parthenos', "virgin"; this is the word used at Matthew 1:23.
**The Septuagint (see above) has: "They pierced my hands and my feet", implying the Hebrew word 'karu' in its source text. However the Masoretic Hebrew text, accepted as standard in orthodox Judaism, has 'k'ari', and the line reads, "Like a lion, my hands and my feet"
